@Black-Square Very nice article. My Dad was a professor @ NC State University in the Mech & Aerospace Engineering dept, where I also got my degree back in 1984. I taught myself programming and ended up jumping back and forth between engineering and IT throughout my career. I am now retired, and am a very serious simmer who evidently shares a common perspective with you. I am VERY picky about the aircraft that I choose to learn, and then I dive in deeply. It started with the Challenger 650 from Hot Start. But I switched over to MSFS eventually because I was so impressed with various things on that platform. I am a developer of systems at my church over the past 35 years, but find plenty of time to spend with the sim.

My competency with the Bonanza is coming up to speed nicely, shot a handful of missed approaches today, and have just completed a deep dive and a lot of flights to learn the GTN750 (PMS50). Getting ready to take the Bonanza into live ATC soon. After completing the CAT and I test series on Pilotedge, I'm now especially interested in the Boston ATC club on VATsim, they seem to be relatively advanced and also have a similar training flight program.

    Have a good weekend! Kirk

I am having major issues with the Arrow AP. I don't want its altitude hold feature active, I want to control the trim myself. I don't know if it's my logitech AP unit or what but the plane never seems to want to stop holding altitude. Because there is no switch just a clickspot, I can't tell whether altitude hold is supposed to be on or off, and my bindings for altitude and heading hold seem to do nothing in this plane. I'd like an option in the ipad to disable the clickspot and all the altitude features of the Arrows so they NEVER take control of trim, and the AP works as it would in real life, please. And ideally I'd like the "Heading Hold On" and "Heading Hold Off" bindings to work so I can use my switches instead of the mouse.

I think it might be my logitech AP unit interfering, so I will test with it unplugged, but it seems pot luck whether I can get the AP in the Arrow to release control of trim.

@Mark Thanks for your reply. From that I gleaned that the AP disconnect is not a feature of the aircraft so perhaps something might be wrong on my end.

I did a long testflight during which I unplugged my yoke and throttle quadrant and that seemed to cure the AP disconnect. After reconnecting the AP disconnected again after a while.

I checked the yoke sensivity setting in MSFS and noticed there was a "reactivity" setting I have never touched before. It showed 100 so I changed that to 98, on a hunch that this might filter out these spikes.

I did a long test flight with this setting and did not have a AP disconnect. The funny thing is, when I set it back to 100 I also did not have these AP disconnects anymore.

When I later checked for spikes using VKB Joytester I noticed that the yoke was indeed sending spikes once in a while, very short bursts but off the scale.
These did not lead to AP disconnects since I already touched the reactivity setting in MSFS.

Even after a very, very long flight the AP disconnect did not return except once when I changed GPS instruments on the tablet during a flight.

Perhaps the original value of the reactivity setting was not set properly in MSFS internally so setting it to 98 and then back to 100 reset something in MSFS.
Sorry for the long reply but hopefully someone else with a similar issue might benefit from this.

@jaspar11 I have just tested this and I am seeing the tail plan position indicator move between +5 and -3 by triggering the elevator trim assignments, so that sounds like there may be some other controller conflict that may be preventing the trim from working correctly for you.

If you could kindly contact Just Flight support via the following link, they will be able to run through some troubleshooting steps with you to get you up and running: https://www.justflight.com/support

We are aware of the autopilot not holding the glideslope perfectly, this we believe came about after a recent sim update that changed the atmosphere/weather in the simulator. It is something we are looking into and once we have a fix it will be included in an update to the 146.

@TrailerSwift89 These codes are three-character IATA aircraft type codes as opposed to the four-character ICAO aircraft type codes that you have referenced. FS Traffic uses IATA codes as that is what is used in the databases.

It was at about 70kts at around 1500ft climbing out of EGBK and it was definitely the MSFS default black screen overstressed message.

Any Twin GA aircraft would be awesome but a PA-44 would probably be my choice too. Sim really needs a JF quality twin.
My hope is at the very least in the spirit of bringing their planes over from previous sims they could bring their Duchess Model 76 to MSFS some time soon.

@gabe777 Yes, there will be a switch to hide the tablet, just like the PA28 aircraft.

Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble with the game. Here's what I'd suggest:

Post up in the AH2 forum (details in the manual) and see if other users can offer suggestions. If that fails, contact Just Flight support. If AH2 is using up all your RAM it sounds like something is wrong with your setup.

@dadgametime Not only that, but both liveries for the -1000. I would definitely love to see that and some Canadian Regional liveries as well, as both airlines were operating them in the PacNW around the turn of the century.

@shutts Next time look at the volts on your battery. It was probably too low. Having the battery switched on while futzing with the radios and nav systems (with lighting on, too) will drain the battery fairly quickly, preventing the electronic fuel pump from working. You can recharge the battery from the EFB. You can also disable the “State Saving” feature and restart the flight from the Main menu—which will reinitialize everything (from a new [not saved] state).

@katchaplin Yes I am also thinking there may be a conflict with another add on. I removed all of my add on liveries for JF planes and have not had this type of issue repeat so far. So I don't think there is an issue with the GTN750/650. I just put back one recent livery for the Warrior and I will be looking to see if the random bugs come back. I have previously found strange bugs caused by custom interior add ons that had not been updated. I am also really enjoying the docile Warrior for relaxing flights as well as practicing instrument approaches. Don't know what JF did to make their aircraft handle so realistically. Thanks for your thoughts.
