@MarkS It now shows, so it really was the order it loads from the community folder... I should have thought of that earlier. Sorry.

@Dingle no worries, I've been bitten by that one myself in the past.

@MarkS I guess after the new autopilot code it will no longer work. Even the poped out gtn750 cant control it anymore.

@Dingle yes, it’s like the GTN is being blocked somehow. But not all of it, oddly enough. HDG mode works, and you can set an altitude, VS mode, and a rate of climb or descent using the autopilot panel on the GTN. FLC might work too, though I’ve not tried it.

It’s as if the new autopilot code is detached from and is ignoring the standard autopilot’s NAV and APPR functions. If so, it follows that the GTN wouldn’t work either. But I’m just spitballing here, and the man who knows for certain is at FSExpo.

We should be prepared for the possibility that this is one of those planes where it’s just too much trouble to mod a GTN into it. I have had one or two of those in the past. But I’m not giving up on this one just yet.

Thank you for trying! The default 430 is the only flaw on this otherwise awesome aircraft.

The GTN650 mod is working well in Starship version 1.1 in both 2020 and 2024. Barring any issues, it will be released on flightsim.to following FSExpo on Monday 30 June.

You will also need to have the following folders installed in your Community folder:

              • PMS50 GTN750: "pms50-instrument-gtn750" from https://pms50.com/msfs/
              • JayDee's GTN750 mod: "ZZZ JD 00 GTN750 MAIN MOD 2.3 - PMS FIX" from  https://flightsim.to/file/13415/jds-gtn750-on-gns530-mod

I think there was a problem with the Autopilot being controled by the GTN. Possibly because of the 1.1 update of starship? It changed parts of the Autopilot I think.

@pequenyo sorry no, it's currently on hold. In Starship version 1.1, the GTN will not drive the autopilot in NAV or APPR modes.

I will have to be careful about volunteering my time in this particular effort while there are many other features that I should be working on, but I should just say that it's definitely possible. It will take editing of the behaviors XML, and the CDU to make sure all the autopilot variables are set correctly for the GTN, but it's definitely possible.

@Black-Square this is where things stand at the moment: the GTN replaces the 430 on the pedestal, but its autopilot will not couple to the Starship autopilot in NAV or APPR modes. In NAV or APPR, it circles in a right-hand bank, and each circle is slightly larger than the last. The GTN does couple to HDG, ALT, and VS, all of which can be set either from the cockpit or the GTN autopilot panel.

I have also observed that with either the GNS or GTN, NAV and APPR modes cannot be engaged unless an approach is loaded into the GPS. I assume this is by design.

I can send you the mod in its current state if you'd like.

In VR, the GTN would be a lot more user friendly. I don’t even need it to drive the AP, just having it for frequencies, traffic alerts, charts, etc. would be good enough for me. Understand if you want to wait for full functionality however.
