I primarily tune in frequencies through the CDU. I notice that it is impossible to input a comms frequency in the recall field. Not sure if there is perhaps a logic in that, so the RTU and CDU don't "fight" over that field, but if that is the case, I wonder why the yellow arrow still appears - seemingly indicating that the LSK can be used to input the frequency in that field.

@MarkS said in If you're doing a world tour.....: I'm on leg 25 of this massive world tour, available on flightsim.to. It did not include a stop on Reunion, but flew right past it so I added it, as well as a stop in Antarctica. Oohh...system.cfg... voltage curves... so that's how that works. I was looking all over .xml files trying to find some reference to 26 So maybe when the simvar gets the voltage number, it's starting from the left of the curve and finding the 0:26 entry first and setting capacity to 0? And there's some (undocumented?) behavior in MSFS that says "0 remaining capacity is automatically 0 volts," even if the voltage curve says 0 should be 26? But if that's the case... Yep, tested it and Recharge Batteries disables external power too! (I should note I've only been trying it in FS2024)

I checked again and ran the trig for different altitudes and was completely unable to paint the ground in MAP or WX mode regardless of the tilt. This seems like a shortcoming, I have on occasion at night with heavy rain tilted the radar down so the bottom of the beam catches ground at the edge of the display range. This helps identify a lower detection plane for the radar. For instance is I set the radar to paint the ground at 100 nm and the aircraft is ~30000ft AGL then at 50nm the bottom of the beam is 15000ft etc. Every tilt from -1 to -12 resulted in a dark screen for trying to get any sort of ground return

Although you can't do this in real life, I find that creating a flight plan with Simbrief will import the SID into the FMS as a series of waypoints, Vnav can then be used to put in the altitudes so you can see what they are meant to be at. With STARs you have to put them in as waypoints in the FMS one by one and again can use VNav to put in the altitudes. The AP won't automatically fly VNav but you can use them as guides to control your vertical profile. What this means is I don't have to use the 430 and have disabled it, yet can still easily use the AP to fly SIDs and STARs.

There’s a site called the Internet Movie Plane Database, which you can check out, for these kinds of questions.

I was going to mention that there is a really good Android app called Avare that will display a moving map on your phone or tablet as you are running Flight Simulator. One can overlay VFR Sectionals, Low IFR-High IFR routes, etc., (at least for flights in the USA) and your aircraft in Flight Simulator will be shown at it's correct simulation coordinates on the moving map. When you build a flight plan with Avare, the app will automatically draw extended runway centerlines at both your departure airport and arrival airport. Avare is excellent for situational awareness and runway orientation. The app pairs really well with the Starship's older avionics for situational awareness and I use it on every flight now. Google Play Link here Avare is completely free of charge and does not have any in-app adverts whatsoever (which makes it so cool).

I had one flight where the starship suddenly without warning pitched up or down extremely quickly, breaking the aircraft from stress damage. Happened with or without AP engaged. There were weird wind changes and turbulence reported in the area so I chalked it up to that and have since turned down turbulence from realistic to medium.

Nick is quite informed on all things Starship (go figure), so I will always regard him as a trusted source. The airspeed indicator on the Starship has a TAS digital readout at all times for the reasons above no doubt, which I probably should've remembered here. Great fun learning about this stuff though!

@DrVenkman I can confirm that the workaround seems completely effective for me personally in regard to the Starship and the newest FS2024 Beta release. Buttons light up and exterior lights work fine with the mouse in Legacy mode. I kinda hate the blue glowy effect when hovering over mouseable buttons also, so I'll likely just leave things in Legacy mode.

@Black-Square Just one nerd-Beech fact - the actuator actually has two separate motors and associated gearing internally - main & standby. It's not just a power source. So if one motor conks out - have the redundancy of the other! @CapVideo Simple rule of thumb is ice-vanes/inertial-seperators extended for all ground ops except Take-Off and Landing (unless on gravel - which I don't think any respecting Starship owner would risk it!) The location of the Starship intakes far aft and above the wing make their use kind of moot on the ground - it'd be very tough for any fod to get up there. As Nick mentioned the prevalence of FOD is planned to be reduced in a future update. Patrick
