@Randolf I don't suppose you would be able to share some screenshots of how you set that up in AAO? I am slowly learning the more advanced features but can't work out how to map a bit of an axis to trigger something...

@Black-Square Thank you SO much for the detailed response! That makes a lot of sense, see it always feels like my favorite developers like you, JustFlight, PMDG, A2A, are the ones that take a really long time to release products in general and even more for them to make it to Marketplace, but you're part of the small club of excellent developers with reputations worth protecting, and they're my favorites because of the high quality of the products. Fun little Catch 22, I love what you/rest of that list make because their products are just amazing quality but it takes time to make them that good plus more to release them on a flawed 1st party marketplace. One of these days I'm finally building a gaming PC specifically for flight simming, catalyst is actually wanting to get into DCS more than anything else, I'm okay with waiting on some of the quality add-on aircraft and generally fine with my MSFS experience on Xbox plus some decent peripherals. IK it sounds odd that I'm a developer without a decent PC, but I'm a backend and mobile guy so all my fancy computers are Macs. I always need at least one to build for iOS and they play nicer with Linux. Not to mention the absurd performance from the new Apple Silicon chipsets. Like it's actually ridiculous, a contract I was doing recently was in a closed Windows ecosystem and they issued me with a top of the line i9 powered Lenovo P16, for fun I compiled a big open source android project on both it and my fanless Macbook Air, the Air compiled it in less than half the time. It's not even a top of the line Air, retails at less than half the price of the Lenovo haha. Thanks again though, can't wait to get my hands on the Starship and learn those weird high-tech-for-the-80s systems. For the record, I'm totally fine with how the Dukes are performing and would be fine if the Starship came out with similar foibles, but also if it were me I wouldn't release it in that state either.

After unsuccessful attempts to replace the GNS430 with a GTN650, I eventually opted to remove the 430 entirely and fly solely with the native VOR/DME and VLF/Omega avionics. After the first week, I even turned off GNSS/WAAS and I don't miss it. VOR hopping in this is a dream, and I enjoy the occasional nailbiter where you're in the middle of nowhere with no VOR/DME, the VLF/Omega drifts, and you get the "hey, where are we?" message. I don't even use the PMS50 GTN750 popup because the aircraft gives me almost everything I need. Just one man's opinion, not trying to dictate what others' experience should be. I liken this to the FSS 727, where the GTN750 just feels wrong and it's much more "fun" to use the period-correct INS.

There’s a site called the Internet Movie Plane Database, which you can check out, for these kinds of questions.

I was going to mention that there is a really good Android app called Avare that will display a moving map on your phone or tablet as you are running Flight Simulator. One can overlay VFR Sectionals, Low IFR-High IFR routes, etc., (at least for flights in the USA) and your aircraft in Flight Simulator will be shown at it's correct simulation coordinates on the moving map. When you build a flight plan with Avare, the app will automatically draw extended runway centerlines at both your departure airport and arrival airport. Avare is excellent for situational awareness and runway orientation. The app pairs really well with the Starship's older avionics for situational awareness and I use it on every flight now. Google Play Link here Avare is completely free of charge and does not have any in-app adverts whatsoever (which makes it so cool).

I had one flight where the starship suddenly without warning pitched up or down extremely quickly, breaking the aircraft from stress damage. Happened with or without AP engaged. There were weird wind changes and turbulence reported in the area so I chalked it up to that and have since turned down turbulence from realistic to medium.

Nick is quite informed on all things Starship (go figure), so I will always regard him as a trusted source. The airspeed indicator on the Starship has a TAS digital readout at all times for the reasons above no doubt, which I probably should've remembered here. Great fun learning about this stuff though!
