No internal sounds
-
Yeah, I'm still struggling a bit with the sounds. I have reinstalled more than once to check something hadn't gone wonky but to no avail. The sounds are working, it's just in the cockpit is disturbingly quiet, it's as if the engine noise has been mixed really low compared with other sounds. Have checked every setting I can think of but not found anything wrong. Maybe it's just me but I think I'll have to play with the in game volume settings and drop everything else down while leaving the engines at 100.
@Paul-in-Keighley I assume you don't also have the Piaggio P.180 installed? This seems to be the symptom I am hearing from others with this strange incompatibility we just discovered with the Piaggio's and all Boris' other sound packages.

No, don't have the Piaggio at all. The only Boris sound pack I have is for the 2020 version of the PMDG 737 which I use in 2024 but I've not touched that sinced buying the Caravan bundle. Some people have reported no sound but that doesn't apply to me, the sound is there its just the in cockpit engine sound level that's very quiet. If I open the window it's as loud as you'd expect.

@Paul-in-Keighley Thanks for the information. Obviously, that shouldn't be the case. You say, "disturbingly quiet", and I've seen others say "like a glider". Clearly something is wrong. We've never seen this with any of my other aircraft, but it's difficult for me to diagnose with this very poorly timed Piaggio mixup. If you were willing to help us diagnose the problem, I would be most interested to hear if there is any difference with no other aircraft in your community folder, and if not, perhaps a short video recording to show us what you are experiencing.

Just done a little experiment, turned off FS Realistic+ completely to eliminate that and dropped all MSFS sound levels to 50 apart from engines. This has noticeably improved things when airborne, dropping them to 25 would likely make things even better. I tried changing the sound output type device to TV, hi fi etc but that didn't seem to make any difference whatsover, I use an old Bose soundbar. So it seems to me that it's just a sound level thing but perhaps the Caravan has better sound insulation than other aircraft. I did think that the cargo version was louder but my mind may be playing tricks. Will have a play with that and report back. I am noticing a handful of others finding issues with sound over on the MSFS forum but there can't be a major problem as I'm sure we would be seeing a load more posts. Yeah, bit of a strange one, can't recall any other aircraft having a similar issue.

@Black-Square i am happy to help as well. please let me know if there's something specific you want me to test. in my case, all the sounds aside from the engine sound fine. switches, alarms, etc. sound just as crisp as all your other planes. the engine sounds from the cockpit are very muffled.
i am on fs'20. i do own the flightfx piaggio however i have not updated the plane to it's latest version and haven't flown it in quite some time.

@scoobyx Thanks for weighing in. Since you've been very vocal about your disappointment, I would be interested to hear what you're listening to, and see if it differs at all from what I can hear on my own computer. Clearly, I would not have released an aircraft with April Fools sounds, so I do wonder if there is some deeper problem at play here than personal taste. I'm worried that I will hear no difference between our two installations, but I suppose that's important data in itself, if you're willing to share a video.

I also think the sounds were pretty quiet compared to other planes, but I didn’t see it as an issue. I do have the Piaggio installed, I’ll remove it this evening and check^^

@Black-Square let me work on putting a video together. I'll report back when it's ready.

@scoobyx Thanks for lending a hand. I know just recording a simple video can be a pain if you're not used to doing it. I record all my own videos for the Just Flight YouTube channel, and I still hardly know what to do if someone asked me for a video.

Have tested the cargo variant engine sound level against the passenger one and it seems the same to my cloth ears. Dropped all volume levels to 20 apart from engine sounds and this has fixed things for me inasmuch as it sounds like I would expect it to in the cockpit (which may or may not be accurate but its sounds "right" to me). I'll continue to keep an eye open for other posts on this subject in case it's not just a user preference thing. Thanks for the aircraft by the way, it's been a worthwhile wait!
