another example of waypoint weirdness
-
here is a hopefully reproduceable case where the waypoints aren't really loading up right. i have navigraph, haven't had a chance to try and repro this without it so i can't say if it is a factor or not.
i was flying into KMGN. using the RNAV 28 approach, with VUPHI transition.
i initially tried to file with VUPHI at the end of my flight plan manually, since that's what i was expecting. my other waypoints entered fine but it would not accept it as a waypoint... nothing would happen when i clicked enter. this is in the main fms flight plan (not the gns). usually gps intersections load easily here so i'm not sure why it didn't accept it.
next i tried to select the approach, in RNAV rwy 20 VUPHI appears as an option for the transition which is good. but when i select it, the flight plan does not show it or any of the other waypoints in the approach plate, it still just shows a direct path to KMGNRW20 and that's all. somewhat odd...
next i tried switching over to the GNS430 since my plan already was to practice flying the RNAV with the gps guidance and vertical guidance. i setup the fms to use the gns and it shows active.
but now when i mess with the GPS unit itself, it is not working quite right.. if i select the approach and transition of RNAV 28 and VUPHI, when i put the cursor to 'activate' the enter button does nothing. i messed around with it for several minutes and cannot seem to get it to draw any magenta line or anything else to this airport. it's like the waypoints associated with this approach are just corrupted somehow.
for the most part this stuff has been working well for me but it seems like a few specific approaches are a bit wonky. unfortunately i did not write down the other airport it happened to for me but i've seen at least one other post on the forums with a similar issue.
thanks!

Did you enter your initial flight plan by hand, or did you import it from Navigraph, the World Map, or the EFB?

sorry if i wasn't clear, it was entered by hand. that's where i first noticed something was amiss because manually adding VUPHI wasn't doing anything - it seemed to be acting like the waypoint didn't exist...
which is why i was slightly surprised that it showed up as an available transition for the RNAV procedure. but then i was slightly less surprised that selecting it didn't correctly add the procedure, it just added the final waypoint.
