GNS430 CDI button is inop (and workaround)
-
Hey, I found an interesting issue when using GNS430 as the AP driver: the CDI button on the GNS device is INOP (or more exactly it instantly switch back to the previous setting). On my first few flights it actually prevented me to use the GPS correctly (note: it also applies to the standalone GTN750 plugins).
What I found is that it is always overridden by the aircraft computer. The simple workaround is to select the nav source from the CDU instead of from the GNS device. I don't know if it is by design (behaving like that in real aircrafts) or just a small bug in the code base. If it is intended behavior, it would be nice to have this highlighted in the manuals :).

It's both by design, but also because there's not much I can do about it. I can't control what's happening inside the GNS, so it just switches back by way of overriding it. I suppose I could make the CDI button inop on the GNS... I don't think it's used to anything else. Thanks for leaving the note, though. I'm sure there will be someone else with the same question.
