Question about Trip Planning
-
Hi,
In the CDU the Trip Planning page seems to be very useful but once I enter the waypoints the distance bearing and ETE are not updated.
I tend to think this is not how it works in the real plane because then the Bearing will not make any sense and the page will be useless.
Is this how it works or is there a bug and the distance, bearing and ETE should update as the fly evolves. I think that would be a cool page to keep in the CDU.
Related and unrelated: What page do Starship pilots keep in the CDU while flying? I guess VNAV is very useful near the destination but what about cruise?

The manual gives the impression that Trip Planning is a feature for use on the ground. Enter your origin, destination, burn and TAS and it will give you quick and dirty fuel estimates. I don't think it does what you're thinking it does, that's more the progress screen on the MFD.

@jmarkows This is correct. Trip planning is only for estimation of your intended flight, much like in the AUX pages of the GNS or Tools pages of the GTN. The MFD Progress or CDU FMS Data screens have the real-time information you are looking for.
