Not using Simbrief integration from the MSFS flight tablet to import the flightplan into MSFS by any chance are you? I had all sorts of issues with that where I couldn't sequence waypoints, like the magenta star would appear on right waypoint the ND/Plan map but the FMS1 reading on the ND would be one behind so the AP looked like it was going crazy. Think that might have been because Simbrief was trying to insert airways into an otherwise simple VOR to VOR route.... Direct to was also weird but not sure that wasn't me not knowing how to do it properly as was first flight

Definitely stay away from trying to inject complex flight plans with SimBrief. I haven't confirmed this myself, but I suspect those out-of-sync problems are the result of the FMS downright hanging when it encounters legs that it doesn't know what to do with. I will get around to seeing what I can do about this, because I'm relatively confident that there is a manageable solution, now that I've seen how people are using it. In the meantime, simple flight plans with airports and navaids are probably fine (no promises), but I wouldn't try anything with approaches, SIDS, or STARS.

The direct-to, on the other hand, may have actually just been confusing you, haha. It's actually quite confusing how it works in the real aircraft, since it was a very new concept at the time. It's just as useful as any present day direct-to, but it will take some learning to know what it's about to do.

@Black-Square Cheers Nick, as bad as it is in MSFS, being an offline amateur, I like to at least attempt to have some ATC and the import function from SimBrief is really convenient one click to set all that up in MSFS, but I've noted your points that it's also injecting into the Starship and causing problems so I'll switch to the inbuilt MSFS/WT flight planning tablet as there is an option to import to ATC, Avionics or both...Hopefully if I do the ATC one only it won't mess with the Starship flight plan 😃

I could be wrong, but I think that will end up using the same import functions as SimBrief, and will result in the same problems. If I'm being completely honest, I thought most users would be using Starship as they have with all my other airplanes, but the number of users who seem to be employing "fly-by-tablet" was not something I expected at all.

Ah okay, so that's probably the issue that I had been doing this each time without thinking.
In the world map i had gone onto the simbrief tablet and imported the flight plan (albeit never showing up in the sim)

It never occurred to me to maybe not do that.. Doh!

In the past using previous Blacksquare products I always imported flightplans using the PMS750 just to save time entering waypoints.
Although it's not too bad with the FMS, it is a bit of a faff in VR as I keep missing my keyboard 😅

@Black-Square Checked and you're right, which leads to me ask the question what is the point of Send to ATC vs Send to Avionics if send to ATC also sends to avionics anyway? 😑

Would be nice to have the "Send to avionics" from MSFS EFB work to fill the CDU flight plan. Would save a lot of manual input on longer routes.

@Randolf I will come back to this. If it works the way that I'm hoping it does, it shouldn't be super difficult. If it doesn't work that way, and things are more out of my control, then I make no promises, unfortunately.

@Black-Square you could take an inspiration from how the KLN90B does it, it supports the "Send to avionics" feature in MSFS2024, and it seems to be a similarly quirky old system like the Starship avionics 🙂

I forget how that lovely gentleman implemented it after some of our conversations, but I can always ask. I will take a look in his code too for ideas. That's actually an excellent suggestion.
