Watching YouTube videos - all of them are using old fashion VOR nav
I know from real B767 experience that pre - GPS route planning on FMC back in 1984 was the same as today with GPS.
Updating nav was done by triangular DME - DME/VOR - GPS satellites was few and degraded for civilian use, and used only as backup.
I am not sure what Starship was capable of. At least you can select approach.
My gut feeling says it is ok to do it my way: Picking a route from A to B on the planet, select GPS route, and M$ creates a route. Flying the route as normal, and later select an approach from Starship menu.
I think this simulates old Starship navigation good enough for flying.

Unless I'm mistaken, you have described exactly how I fly Starship. I've actually been quite baffled (in a good way) with so many users flying Starship in a completely alien fashion to what I'm used to with my other aircraft, including the King Air. It would seem that "screens + FMS" makes people think the only way to fly the airplane is with a SimBrief route. I've been flying Starship the way I would any other airplane. At the end of the day, whatever you enjoy most is the best way to enjoy Starship!

        Hi @Black-Square,
as I am not a pilot I have to pick up everything from youtube 🙂

When flying on vatsim IFR is a good point to start as it is relativly simple, it requires a flight plan however. That's easy to get with vatsim. Now if I just want to fly VFR, I found it hard to get my fingers on a good tutorial video to know what to do.

So on vatsim for me the IFR option is not there. Maybe that has something to do with it, as people fly it like an airliner.

If someone has some good material on where to start going VFR I would be very interested.

        Cheers
