Is it normal that the menu and display sometimes overlap?

Just a reminder to attach the screenshot

Turns out I'm not allowed

On the MFD, I can get both Display and Menu to show up at the same time.

That's unfortunate. That's indicative of something wrong with the instrument, but I haven't seen that in many, many versions. I hate to say that it could be "a fluke", but I have seen many such things over the years with Asobo's avionics system. What was the last thing you were doing before it happened? This one should be pretty obvious to troubleshoot if we can see the error message.
I asked someone else this recently, but could you do me a favor and check if the debugger is available without installing the SDK? Try going to
http://127.0.0.1:19999/
in your web browser while the aircraft is running. If the page loads, find the link for the MFD, and then look at the console tab when the instrument is not displaying correctly. -

I see the console, you just want me to copy/paste the HTML here?

Oh, that's excellent that you don't need to install the SDK! There will always be some errors in the console from when the aircraft is loading (you can clear them with the trashcan button, if you like), but we're looking for a new error when you first see the problem. You can either copy-paste the error itself, or take a screenshot. Thanks for the help!

I already had the SDK installed (I’m a scenery dev), I guess that’s why this console works? I never worked on an aircraft though, I’ll try to reproduce the problem and look for an error there. I saw this during at least two flights but I can’t guarantee I’ll have a sure way of reproducing, I was playing with the MFD and flight plan when I noticed this and it might require some special timing. I’ll reply here if I catch it again.

Oh, I have a guess from your screenshot. Since your CDU is on the initiation page, is it safe to assume you imported that flight plan from another tool? I really wish I could disable that feature somehow for the time being, because it is extremely not supported to important flight plans with legs that Starship was not meant to display.
I apologize, but I had no idea this was going to be such a common practice among my users, because I had hardly ever heard SimBrief mentioned in the same breath as my other aircraft. I don't know if that's because people are using Starship fundamentally differently, or if it just never came up before, because my other aircraft use the Garmin avionics. Probably a little of both, to be honest.

You are fully right! Imported via/into MSFS2024 from simbrief (tool).
No need to apologize, maybe, for the time being you could, whenever the aircraft is loaded just flush the route that MSFS is injecting.
And, at a later point in time we are all happy to welcome the approach with the floppy with the simplified route we discussed in another thread .. )
