Request - G1000NXI Option For Future Black Square Aircraft In Development

While I have no current plans to add G1000 support to my aircraft, the most likely candidates would be the TBM and the King Air. I will say that I have a future aircraft planned to include glass panel avionics, but I was leaning towards the WT G3X + GNS 750 combo that I have in the velocity, as this more closely resembles the upgrades done to this particular aircraft in the real world.
Since I love seeking the advice of my users, what do you all think of the WT G3X + GNS 750 vs. WT G1000 for a GA aircraft?
@Black-Square I would LOVE to see the G3X with the GNS 750 with a modern Autopilot option. I know there is a huge group of simmers that prefer the steam gauges, but I think there are as many who prefer the glass cockpits and for some reason the best mod builders always seem to stick with the old stuff. The touchscreen aspect of the G3X is really helpful, especially in VR. An option would be great! By the way the Bonanza A36TC is my favorite plane. I would love it even more with a G3X!

@bobhall25 Agreed. I started flying Piper Pilots in real life, which is just a training version of an Archer and it has a G3X, GFC 500 Autopilot, etc. I would love to have it for the sim to practice at home

@Black-Square The G3X + GTN750/650 stack would be perfect for your lineup of aircraft. It's one of the most common and popular retrofits nowadays, even my cheap flying club has recently upgraded an old C172N to the G3X/GTN.
Personally, if it's not too much to ask for and not too late already, I'd love to see that as an option in addition to the steam gauge variants in your upcoming Bonanza/Baron professional series. One can dream I guess.
@Outermarker Just a heads up that that's a GDU 1060, which is probably part of a G500 (or G600) system. I'd love to see that in the sim altogether as it's a great panel replacement that doesn't have the niche certification requirements of the G1000 and is more flexible than the G3X (especially for multi-engine aircraft. You can basically drop it in any aircraft and get the glass-panel functionality while being a lot more realistic than doing so with a G1000 or G3X.

In the meantime some community members managed to get the G3X into the Bonanza, but it's not public (yet?).

I have a wishlist thread on the main msfs forums asking for a native G500/600 architecture. The G1000 is cool and all, but it's limited to just a handful of airframes - can't just drop it into any plane and be realistic. Same with the G3X - it is certified for the Bo, but wouldn't work for the Baron because it's not multi-engine compatible. That's why the G500/600 would be perfect. You could drop it into just about anything and connect it to a GNS or GTN, and still have a lot of the familiar Garmin functionality of the G1000/G3X.

As much as I hate to say this, we need Black Square level fidelity with G1000s. I’m not a computer programmer or anything but with all of the sim hardware G1000’s on the market right now, It is a detriment to the product and the flight sim community not to have this included as an option. You can now buy 2 units from moza for under $1000. I really think the King Air Professional would be awesome to have this included along with several other avionics packages like EFIS 85, and the everything else you always include with the round gauges. Variations are what make a Black Square aircraft a Black Square aircraft and with the excellent foundation we have from WT in the base sim, I think it is a huge miss not to provide G1000 functionality with your products. I think the Caravan, Baron, and TBM (with a new sound pack of course) would be great to eventually have G1000s added and I personally would pay for this as an expansion for certain reasons. I am seriously considering building out a King Air G1000 home cockpit with a custom big middle screen and one of those RSG input keypads. I much prefer the look of the legacy King Air’s but from a Home Cockpit builders perspective and for IRL reasons. It is significantly easier to go the Garmin route. I am begging you Nick!! I want to add this final note. Avionics options are the identity of Black Square. Unless it is a paid expansion to add G1000’s (cough cough) to existing aircraft still give us the option to have the round gauges and other avionics we normally have moving forward along with potential WT Garmin integration.

Regarding the G1000, for example, what might seem like simply adding a couple screens to the cockpit would take several weeks of modeling, materials, AO baking, LOD exports, coding, electrical changes, tablet changes, moving circuit breakers around, restructuring the entire aircraft (because the G1000 does not support hot-swapping, and I'm not even sure the G1000 could support some of the features I've built into my aircraft. To fully work with my aircraft, the avionics must be configurable to display arbitrary variables, as I've overwritten nearly every aircraft parameter MSFS has to offer. Particularly, think about the engine parameters. At several weeks per aircraft, I estimate this could total 3-4 months of work for all the applicable aircraft.
Trust me, I have considered it, and the needle is getting closer to adding glass panel options to my aircraft every day, but the work is very non-trivial. There is a reason glass panel retrofits of real world aircraft can exceed the cost of the entire airframe.
Another note: The Txi Touchscreen featured above suffers from all the challenges of the G1000, minus some of the panel redesign, and some of the electrical changes, which would make it slightly easier to include, and I must admit, it does make for a stunning panel with the GTNxi's.

@Black-Square I'm glad you are considering this. In all honesty, I would pay another $50 or whatever just to have the TBM 850 G1000 version of your aircraft. I built a lot of home cockpit hardware for the 850 G1000 back for FSX and there is no existing version of that plane in MSFS right now. I would seriously pay a decent amount for this add-on, for what it's worth.

Yeah, that amount of work is worthy of paying for the plane again. I really would want all of the living parts to remain alive and not to be dumbed down in any way. I’m not exactly sure how Working Titles G1000nxi works from a developer point of view but from flying the Cows Diamond it has to be somewhat modular. The Cows DA40 is the best basic trainer aircraft simulation in the sim and maybe you could reach out to them for some technical advice. If you would have asked me a year ago, I would think I would be crazy for asking for G1000 Black Square planes but with all of the G1000 sim panels you can buy now and actually using one myself, I really like the G1000 now. If I was Black Square I would personally sell it as a completely new aircraft at the same price as the others so people can choose what one they want and maybe offer a bundle for people like me who buy everything you release. I know that’s a lot of work but it would definitely be worth it as Glass GA is severely lacking. I’ve thought about getting into learning the SDK to make it happen myself but I don’t wanna get into EULA trouble, and I don’t really have the time to learn about how stuff like that gets done. I really hope you decide to finally pull the trigger and work on them after we get the Commander, Twin Commanders and King Air.

A lot of things aren't simulated in the G1000NXI.
Flight envelope protections, for example, are non‑existent. I'm not sure if that kind of functionality could be added by BS as part of a possible customization. Does WT make the code readily available for customization? Adding custom waypoints is another example that's not present in the sim's default G1000NXI either.
I think that if the G1000NXI were fully functional since BS is a developer with a very high level of realism then it would definitely be worth it. But if it's just to have what we already know, I probably wouldn't pay for it. Especially because I much prefer analog panels anyway.
