We will be supporting alternate destinations in flight asap.
The skies should be populated with cruise traffic during your flight. If you are not seeing any then please get in touch with support so they can look into it for you.

Toolbar issue did not fix it for me. Still no traffic at arrival airport even with disabling toolbar and putting in arrival airport in traffic control center. Plenty of planes at departure. A few in route. Dead airport at arrival.

I did some testflights tonight and finally I got it to work some how to get traffic at my destination!!!
The problem before was, that the in game toolbar ist not working at all on my system!
I got traffic at my destination when I do the follwoing things:

          • plan the flight with(!) destination in MSFS
            or
          • using traffic control centre without the toolbar

          Conclusion:
          Don't use the toolbar!!!
          Don't press confirm in toolbar!!!

          Downside of all this:
I was not able to change my destination during or after my flight!
Either with the toolbar (as I said it doesn't work for me at all!) nor with traffic control centre.
Traffic was always still at my first destination.

So dont't play around, just set your destination before flight and life with that. Then you (might) have traffic at your destination.

I thought we would by more flexible :-(
I still don't understand the philosphy and the mechanics behind all this, but maybe after a few fixes we get what we expected.
          I keep fingers crossed!

@steve67 I just did a short test flight from San Jose to San Francisco and have taken your advice and disabled the in game menu.

I have set the destination in both the msfs main menu and the traffic control centre.

Now I am able to see traffic at the arrival airport!! Although there weren't many active traffic (only parked planes from what I can see), I suppose the flight was just too short for any active traffic to reach the airport or depart.

I will do a longer flight to see if it works better.

          Thank you steve67!

PS: I'm sure this is also mentioned in other post. I have also found lowering the ground services vehicle increases the overall traffic due to the no. of object limit. I basically have the setting set as "Set For Fast Gate Turnarounds" and the traffic volume definitely improved.

@steve67 That might be it. Most of my flights were short hops with turboprops below 5000 feet. Was unaware of that rule. Will try again later today above 5000.

@bpfonteyn To get a feeling of the whole system (especially with traffic at the destination) I did my first testflights with small, default airports. Next complex destination, next complex departure.
Yes, very annoying for a payware product, but still ...
I still don't have a clue how the whole system works! That's why I startet the topic: Please give us some info and best practice about destination
But I didn't got that much useful answers (yet) :-(

Does this mean, (despite the manual: "The destination ICAO can be changed at any time during a flight, allowing for flights to alternate airports."!!) alternates doesn't work at all at the moment?!?
I thought this happens only on my system!

same issue here, i m making some test, i have a feeling (just a feeling) it has something to do with jetways. when i don’t use jetways for boarding (my plane!) at departure, i have traffic on arrival.
but again, might be a placebo, you know how wierd things are !

@gogolito Hm, I never paid attention to be honest. Some of the quick testflights I did with the MB-339, so no boarding. When I use boarding and jetways, I even use GSX!!

                      • So, maybe using jetways is part of the object-limit (more objects in use when moving)?
                      • is the object-limit part of the whole flightsimsession (all objects from departure, during flight, 'til arrival?)?
                      • or is the object-limit only part of the actual scene (like what I "see" on screen right now?)?

                                  Steve, i have 100%success so far and this is how (it s something i ve read on another forum ) ;
once flight is loaded , open fs traffic toolbar and WAIT for the arrival ICAO to fill automatically.
then DO NOT press confirm. wait a few second and close it.
i also lowered time before departure to 90 minutes.
                                  100% success

@gogolito I certainly do not get 100% success on this suggestion. I have tried it myself.

Thank you for all your feedback. It's so dissapointing, that the devs don't kick in and give us suggestions how it's done correct!
I think it's very important when you open the destination aka toolbar-window. I did it after takeoff and this is probably to late! I will do it next time before I even move my plane and will report.

They have, I’m sure. Certainly a dev stated that you should open the JF button on the toolbar and wait for the destination ICAO to auto-populate. This can take a moment or two.

Also there is the manual, which gives you two methods of flight planning.

They are aware of the issues.
