Import Flight Plan Failures in FS2020

About 1/3 of auto-imports of the flight plan fail on initialization of the FMS. There doesn't appear to be any way to retry the FP load from the World Map except to restart the flight... a massive pain!
I see that the FS2024 version has a method built into the EFB - no way around this in FS2020?
Also, on a number of occasions I have tried to enter the FP manually after a load failure to keep from restarting the flight, but manual entry does not work in this instance unless I reboot the FMS...

You're right, it is a huge pain! I feel bad that this is how it works in 2020, but you're correct, there is no way around it.
When you say that manual entry doesn't work after attempting to import a flight plan, can you describe what exactly doesn't work?

Here's what happens:

After indicating an import failure, the only thing available is to select a deletion of the current plan. I'll make note of the exact language the next time it happens.

After the plan deletion, when I return to the Flight Plan screen and begin manual entry the system refuses to except entry of the departure or destination airports. I can enter waypoints but not the airports. (it gives a X-side error message - I'll make note of it the next time it happens).

After I force a reboot of the FMS I am able to enter a flight plan manually and the airports are accepted.
