Hi all. After much thinking in the shower, I figured out how to implement this in about six lines of code. Of course this spawned several hours of other code edits, adding more Lycoming behavior, and testing, but it was still easier than I expected.

This had the byproduct of allowing me to implement the delay between mixture cutoff and engine shutdown that many have been asking about for a long time.

It's surprisingly easy, so long as everyone is okay adopting the mixture control bindings of my turbocharged aircraft. (It works with the native bindings, so I'm not sure why people continue to struggle occasionally.) If they revolt, I will send them your way πŸ˜‰ Kidding, of course.

EDIT: I cannot tell you how fun it is starting the engines this way that I am so familiar with from the real world πŸ™‚

Must be a special kind of water supplied to your place! πŸ˜‰
Thank you, well done sir, appreciate your efforts massively! I just went ahead and bought the Commander, even though I'm still waiting for that Virpil yoke that seems to take forever to arrive on the market πŸ™ƒ

No, we haven't gotten a Commander patch just yet.

I'll probably be sending the new version to Just Flight later today.

@Black-Square wow, so amazing, i am now also owner of your commander, and yes, this is lycoming, perfect!! I have made my first test fly today and yes, this plane flies very easy and stable. i love the 70ties look, its so sexy this old thing. Now i need to startup her again to make more nautical miles with her. Thank you very much again. But sadly during a test flight, I lit a cigarette as typically for the 70ties, but unfortunately I found that the ashtray was stuck and wouldn’t open no matter how hard I tried. I had no choice but to throw the ashes and cigarette out the window, but don’t worry i don’t usually do things like that, but I had no other option. Maybe a very talented aircraft mechanic will be able to fix this someday. I think I’ll take the old lady to Nick, I’ve heard he’s the best there is. πŸ™‚

I'm loving the new realistic start-up procedure on the Lycoming engine. I was completely unaware of this method because, IRL I've only flown behind Rotax & Continental engines. I genuinely feel like the Black Square Commander 114 is the most realistic & complete GA aircraft in MSFS24. Thank-you Nick.

Question on the priming procedure. The EFB outlines the procedure similar to starting the engine in that you start with the mixture cutoff, crack the throttle 1/4", turn on the fuel pump, then it says to increase mixture over 2-3 seconds. Fuel flow doesn't really seem to increase to the target value until mixture more on the rich side, so I wait until I achieve the target flow then keep the pump on for a few seconds before shutting off. Is that correct, more specifically, in that you ramp up the fuel mix from cutoff with pump on during priming? The priming procedure leaves you with the mixture full rich, so I then cut it back off prior to cranking the engine during startup.

Just a small report, the detailed section of the updated manual still says: "To quickly prime the engine, place both the throttle and mixture levers in the full forward position." - despite it already being fixed in the checklist (with the throttle changed to just needing to be cracked). Just something for possible future updates.

Are you sure you aren't mixing priming and starting?

@Black-Square BROTHER! I LOVE the new update, I even flooded it on purpose the first time, and then fouled the plugs on purpose to see if it worked right haha. I pretty much only fly Black Square and A2A planes for my GA because piston engine dynamics are important to me and this update took one of the best to even better. Great job. I love it when it won't start because I screwed up as ridiculous as that sounds.
