Issue hearing COM2 (GNS530/430 and GMA 340)

Usually I tune ATIS on COM2 (GNS430) while keeping TWR/GND on COM1 (GNS530), with the COM1 and COM2 buttons enabled on the GMA340 panel. I've found that at the start of the session, after startup engine, I can't hear ATIS by pressing the COM2 button. But yesterday I discovered that if, in addition to pressing the COM2 button, I also press COM2 MIC, then I can hear the ATIS, which I don't think should be necessary.
Another issue: when I want to stop hearing ATIS, the only way to do it's not only to turn off COM2 and COM2 MIC, but also by pressing COM1 MIC. To my surprise, the manual describe this as procedure:
"When you want to return to normal operation, press one of the “COM MIC” keys, and the integrated “COM 1/2” button indicator should extinguish"
shouldn't pressing COM2 alone be enough to start and stop listening to that frequency?
