Thank you for producing a Caravan flight model that doesn't suck.

I'm a Caravan pilot IRL and can't stand the other models out there. They don't seem to know how a rudder works and have no concept of over-running the prop on final, let alone beta.

Trying to fly them in VR with their rubber-band rudders is maddening. This one finally feels like an airplane.

Don't even get me started on the systems. I can finally overtemp or overtorque my engine and as a bonus it'll fail correctly? Glorious.

I have to admit, I do dearly miss my G1000 but I will take a sane flight model over having one. What's the point of being able to have the same electronics as IRL if I never fly the model?

@jimrooney You wouldn't happen to know of a good Caravan profile for the Moza FFB Yoke would you? I've tried a couple different ones, and neither seem realistic to me, although admittedly I'm not a pilot IRL. I would love it if a real Caravan pilot developed an authentic feeling profile!

@miller39687 Oh man, me too. The profiles I tried so far feel way too light on the yoke. Doesn't seem realistic. But I wouldn't know, have never flown a real airplane.

Hrm. Without knowing those yokes or settings, I'll try and provide some idea if I can.

The word I'd use to describe the caravan controls more than anything is smooth.

It's large enough that momentum comes into play with everything, but it's also not "heavy" in the control forces. The controls are also very "balanced", by which I mean that an amount of roll roughly equates to the same amount of pitch, so neither seems more sensitive than the other.

I'll contrast this with a 206(turbo). That thing sucks hahaha. The pitch is light and non-linear, yet heavy at the same time, while the roll is sluggish but light.

The Caravan by contrast is lovely to fly. It's heavier and carries a lot more momentum, but it's smooth and predictable.

Oh, maybe this helps... I fly a honeycomb bravo and even with the pitch Bungie removed, it's not smooth enough. I lose all the "heaviness" of it that way, but it's at least smoother.

Those bungies were horrible as well since they were non-linear. The controls got far too heavy far too fast. The pitch does do that, it just doesn't do it that fast. There's a sweet spot for a bit and then the forces ramp up smoothly but quickly.

If you don't trim for pich constantly, you're going to have a bad time. Like when you bring up the flaps, you're already moving the trim or you'll wind up really fighting the plane.

I use the electric trim IRL by instinct when pulling up the flaps... It's one movement.

@jimrooney I just wanted to stop by to thank you for this wonderful endorsement. It couldn't make me happier than to know that fellow pilots and serious simmers appreciate my work. Thanks so much, and let me know if there is ever anything I can do for you 🙂
