I've successfully flown the same LPV approaches with the GNS530 and KAP140, which capture and descend normally.

With the KLN-90B, lateral guidance works correctly and the MD41 GPS/APR mode is armed, but the KAP140 never captures vertical guidance even with "GS (ARM)" being displayed (on the KAP140) and activated prior to the FAF but after the MD41 GPS/APR Annunciator is armed.

Can anyone confirm, is the KLN-90B implementation limited to lateral guidance only, consistent with the real unit's non-precision GPS certification?

*Note: I realize Nick didn't write the KLN-90B and it's third-party, and from what I can gather, the KLN-90B was built long before LPV or LNAV/VNAV approaches exited, but I thought maybe Nick added this functionality for modern sim convenience. Maybe any RNAV approaches loaded into the KLN-90B are only ever LNAV only and disregard any vertical guidance from LPV/VNAV data... hmm... maybe I'm answering my own question.

Anyway, if anyone can confirm this, or if they've ever actually had a successful KAP140 GS capture from an RNAV LPV or LNAV/VNAV approach, that'd be great.

    Thanks in advance guys!

PS. If "The Man" himself happens to read this: Thank you Nick, very sincerely for what you've managed to create here. Like so many others, I adore this aircraft and to see it brought to us as a simulation with the systems depth at the level you've managed to achieve is truly incredible.

Thank you for the tremendous amount of work you've put into this and your passion that's so clearly visible. This was my first Black Square product, and my God, what an intro. After just a few days of messing with the C208, I've already picked up the Baron & Bonanza Pro pack, and I'm excited to see what else you have in store for us in the coming years.

Hello! It is me, the man, himself 🙂

I actually discussed this with the creator of the KLN while we were testing his wonderful creation. We found it difficult to filter for the exact approach capabilities in the MSFS database, so some approaches with "incongruent" approach types like LPV, and still displayed, but no vertical guidance is provided. That's my memory, at least, but I can look if the vertical guidance variables are being populated next time I have the simulator open.

Thank you for your kind words! It seems that the Caravan has been a great introduction for many to my style of aircraft, and the Baron and Bonanza are an excellent next choice. That one bundle alone offers so much to master, between the P-Baron and the Turbine Bonanza. Of course, Starship will always be my favorite 🙂 Enjoy, and let me know if there is ever anything else I can do for you!
