Performance Issues after 3h possibly due to Bendix weather radar
-
Hello there,
I'm flying the Caravan and it has been a fun ride. I'm using a bunch of mods, like the TDS GTNxi, SayIntentions, FSRealistic with ChasePlane, etc. I don't know if some of the mods are the culprit but I'm experiencing massive performance issues after 2-3h realtime flight, massive stutters which make the game unplayable. I tried flying without ChasePlane, FSRealistic and some other mods without remedy. I was suspecting TDS GTNxi thats why I deactivated the Avionics 1 and 2 switch and the performance issues where gone. I tried something similar but only with the avionics 2 switch and performance issues where gone. Third time I tried switching off just the Bendix Weather Radar and it helped. It doesn't matter if the Weather Radar is in Stand-By or On it has to be shut down completely for the performance to stabilize to a playable Framerate again.
TL;DR:
- Performance issues after 2-3h realtime
- gone when switching off radar

Thanks for sharing your experience. This is not the first time that I have heard of the native weather radar causing performance issues after a long flight. It seems this only affects a small number of users, and we haven't been able to determine the cause, except that it has something to do with the native weather radar display. Troubleshooting has been slow going, since I've never been able to reproduce this on a computer that I have access to. We found some BIOS settings or graphics driver changes that may have made a difference in the past, but nothing was definitive. Unfortunately, without anything definitive, it's difficult for me to approach Asobo with something for them to look into. If you feel like you're seeing this very consistently, and you're willing to help, I might be able to devise some tests for you to run (editing the weather radar code), but I will warn you that a lot of good men have lost a lot of hours trying to track this one down. Thanks again, and I hope you are otherwise enjoying the aircraft! Let me know if there is ever anything I can do for you.
