To close the loop here, after another day of experimentation, I believe I've narrowed the problem down to memory corruption between SU4 and the 59x.x series of Nvidia drivers, not a problem with the Caravan Pro.

After dropping back to 591.86, I haven't experienced a crash since.

I am version 581.8 with no issues and am not in any rush to update due to only having a terrible experiences... Next GPU will definitely be red for the foreseeable future.

For me, the Black Square Caravan Professional is causing msfs 2024 to freeze or ctd when ending one flight and starting another in the same session. This is even happening with an empty community folder except for the Black Square Caravans and it occurs every single time that I go to end a flight and start a new flight at another location. If I do the same thing with the BS TBM850 the issue is gone. I have not experienced it with any other aircraft either, just with the Caravan. This is in SU4.

Sadly, my CTDs are back. I've tried several combinations of video driver version (always after running display driver uninstaller), emptying my community folder, clearing the rolling cache, reinstalling msfs, etc. and it always crashes after ~15 minutes, sometimes earlier.

Wondering if SU4 issues (e.g. cockpit persistence problems) are causing stability issues. CoherentGTJS.dll is often the culprit, which makes me suspect javascript conflicts. I'm using Beyond ATC in VR through the toolbar, which is dependent on javascript reliability.

Same problem here. I have tried changing the NIVIDIA drive without any luck. It's clear that it is not related to any add-ons in the community file. Mine continues even with the community file empty but for the Caravan. Hope someone figures it out.

I hope you guys don't think I've been ignoring you. Unfortunately, I wish I had better advice to offer. The code in the Caravan that might have anything remotely capable of producing a CTD is identical to my other aircraft, and the Caravan has even less in the way of avionics than most of my other aircraft. I know several of you are seeing symptoms that appear limited to the Caravan, but I have also seen similarly limited behavior with my other aircraft in the past that resolved themselves in various different ways. Luckily, I haven't had any consistent and persistent CTD reports (other than v1.0 Starship) with my aircraft over the years, largely in part to their architecture, which avoids WASM, where CTD's are most likely to happen. I would encourage you to keep looking for outside applications or system-level issues that might be causing this, but in the meantime, I will be watching this thread closed to see if there is anything I can learn, or anything I can suggest for testing. Sorry that you're dealing with this right now. I just wish I had more to offer.

@Black-Square To add more information, I am also experiencing consistent CTDs with the BS Caravan Pro under very specific conditions. I am running the MSFS 2024 Store Version (1.6.34.0 / SU4) on Windows 11.

                My Specs: * CPU: i5-13600KF | RAM: 32GB

GPU: RTX 3080 Ti (Driver 591.86)

                Troubleshooting performed:

Clean Community folder (only the BS Caravan Pro installed).

                Repaired MSFS 2024 installation.

Deleted Rolling Cache and Shader Cache.

                Full system restart.

Shut down all unneccessary applications including the Nvidia App.

                The Issue:
Even after completing the above steps, I still experience a CTD every single time I attempt a "second load" involving the Caravan.

                Specifically:
Aircraft Swapping: Switching to the Caravan Pro in the Free Flight menu after previously flying a different aircraft.

Starting a New Flight: Ending a flight in the Caravan and attempting to start a new flight (same or different airport) without restarting the sim.

Restarts: Attempting to "Restart" a current flight while in the Caravan.

                Summary:
The Caravan Pro functions perfectly only if it is the very first aircraft selected and loaded immediately after a fresh launch of MSFS. To fly a second leg or change locations, I must completely restart the simulator. I do not experience this with any other aircraft, including your TBM 850. I have no expertise on the subject, but could this possibly be caused by how Caravan handles memory during the sim's "End Flight" or "Reload" transitions? I hope this can be sorted in a future update.

@turnandbank Thanks for this detailed report. Unfortunately, what you're describing doesn't really sound like something that would be related to my code, as I do not have any code that runs at the end of the flight, or when reloading a flight. I waited to think of some test I could send you in reply if you were interested. If you disabled all the avionics in the Caravan, it might give us some idea of where the issue is coming from, and how likely it is to be a Caravan problem, or a simulator problem. I don't know how familiar you are with editing some of the files in the aircraft's package on your computer, but if you're willing to make some changes, I can send you the instructions!

@turnandbank Thanks! All you should have to do is pick a livery and remove all entries from its panel.cfg. Obviously, be sure to make a backup first so you can restore the file later. You're looking for... [YourCommunityFolder]\bksq-aircraft-caravanpro\SimObjects\Airplanes\bksq-aircraft-caravanpro\panel.N95EJ\PANEL.CFG, for instance. That's the default modern red livery. Make a backup, then just delete all lines in the file, and save it. Next, you will likely have to rebuild the package's Layout.json (at the root of the aircraft's package folder) by dragging and dropping Layout.json on top of MSFSLayoutGenerator.exe.

Don't expect the aircraft to work right in any way after you do this, but if you are able to repeat your previous test with different results, that should tell us something hopefully useful. Thank you!

@Black-Square Thank you for your help. I have finally managed to resolve the issue, and I wanted to share the solution in case it helps others.

After testing with the empty PANEL.CFG didn't resolve the issue, I began disabling my Marketplace purchases one by one within the in-game library (since these remained active even after I emptied my Community folder). I narrowed the conflict down to the Airshow Assistant V3 addon that I purchased through the Marketplace - probably over a year ago.

Enabling Airshow Assistant V3 does not cause issues with any of my other aircraft, but it consistently triggers the "second-load" CTD with the Caravan Pro.

I appreciate you taking the time to try to help with this and I hope this information will be helpful to you as well. Thanks again for this superb aircraft and for your excellent support.

                        Kind Regards,

Much thanks to you turnandbank! It worked for me. I join in with Black Square Developer with much appreciation for both your discovery of the problem and then letting everyone else in the form here know the cure. Again thanks....
