One quick question about Engine Condition

I am trying to start and fly the Caravan according to the Manual Checklist. Prior to each flight I open EFB to check out Payload and Systems, and I would say 8 times out of 10 the Engine Condition is displaying exactly 50%. If I did something wrong wouldn't this vary anywhere from 0 - 100% depending how badly I stressed the engine.
Any idea what I could be doing wrong.
