oil temp scale

Hey guys,

the scale on the oil temp gauge is kind of special. But the intentions seem to be clear: Only the essential oil temperature sectors are shown.
When I switch on the battery it sits somewhere just above 40°C. But how does the scale work below 40°C? Does it linear drop down to -40°C (when OAT is low)?

I imagine what you cannot see on the gauge is simulated if that's what you're asking.
