Question on the VLF/Omega system

could you please explain the meaning of the "upper"/"lower" signal strength indication with the VLF/Omega system?

Upper and Lower refer to the signal strength seen by the two VLF antennas on the aircraft, one on top of the fuselage and one below.

So did I get that right one antenna is for the signals bumping up from the surface and the other for the reflections of the ionosphere?
Which of the antennas on the fuselage are the ones for VLF/Omega?

I looked through the real Starship documentation and found part numbers for the VLF receiver and the antenna (CMA-764 and VLF-ANT) but haven't found an exterior drawing that shows the location of the antennae.
