Regarding the removed FS2024 Registration Plates
-
@Black-Square Hi Nick and Et Al, I was wondering about this as they were worse in my opinion in the current SU3 beta when I tried it, hence moving back to SU2...Are you expecting to see it fixed in SU3? The change notes I've read for the beta so far have been very limited with about 4-5 random items on them.
Just that I thought I saw you mention you were holding 1.2 until SU3 with the hope of sorting the liveries, but wondering if there's any point?
Cheers

@hughesj2 We have been asking for it to be fixed for nine months now, but I never stop foolishly hoping.....

Also the X position modifier variable works in opposite directions on each side, not sure if that’s also a MS issue.
@Marionettework Fixed for v1.2.

@Black-Square come on Nick, just code round it like you do with everything else..Or even better lead a strike team and start BlackSquare's Flight Sim 2025

Trust me, I would if I could on this one. To the best I can tell (and have reported on the developer forums), they actually hard-coded their own registration "instruments" to work during the aircraft preview screens, while all other "instruments" are disabled. This is why bypassing the aircraft preview, and loading the session without changing the aircraft, allows the registration to still work in 2024.
-
Another small request to @Black-Square on this topic. Would it be possible to provide a single blank livery to be used for static registration liveries, which has a texture image on the meshes that are normally used to contain the dynamic reg? This way a livery artist can choose to paint the reg onto the aircraft - which we currently can’t do because the nacelle textures are mirrored.
I did already experiment with attaching such a mesh to the model but it won’t animate with the wing flex; however if we could repurpose the mesh that’s currently intended for dynamic reg that might be a solution.

This bug only seems to still happen on blacksquare aircraft, am I wrong? I have multiple other 3rd party aircraft, none of which are 2024 native in which custom reg works fine now in SU3 beta

I don't know how many developers are affected, but none of them use a registration system as customizable as mine, to the best of my knowledge. I have proven to my satisfaction that this is a hard-coding issue within the simulator itself, and we have started asking Asobo to fix it every week in the leadup to SU3.

I wrote this on the Asobo forum – if you'd like, feel free to vote:

Looks like you beautifully presented post got shoved sideways into the Su2 feedback noise.

In my hangar the Milviz Cessna 310 is still borked on Su3; JPL Cessna 152 still borked. Cessna 414 Chancellor not sure - I use painted livery regs and they always appear.

You might not have the latest beta of the C310, I got it from their discord. Fixes pretty much everything, only thing I can still find wrong is that sometimes the NAV radios get stuck on 0.00. Also you can only have a single reg# set as custom/persistent, but i can live with that.
Also I finally got the custom reg on the Duke and Starship to work again, you have to do a weird combo of setting the reg on a default aircraft, saving, then selecting the starship after that, and then maybe go back to the main menu and back in. Normally if it shows up in the preview it will work. Havent figured out exactly the interface-fu required which fixes it.
