@Black-Square I think I won't get much more information out if it at that point. Happy to try anything else you need later today. Sorry 😞

No worries. I appreciate you trying. I would still assume that there is something identifiable that causes this, instead of just random variation on Windows computers... Then again, the alternative wouldn't surprise me either.

        @Black-Square,
I believe so too, but without a deeper understanding of what I can modify, I am stuck here. So if you have another good idea let me know and I will try 😃

Takeaway message for me is that you can create the state pretty reliable when deleting a three waypoint FPL and then delete it. If you kill FSUIPC in the background it won't directly crash. Then hitting ESC will make it crash everytime for me. So at least you could set a breakpoint or something like that.

Count me in as part of the CTD crew in 2024. I was sitting on the ground with the engines running for cooling while poking around the avionics.

I created a plan from 1H0 to KBNA and then deleted KBNA. Instant stutter and CTD.

Edit: and just for giggles I tried it with the copilot CDU. Same thing.

Edit 2: I removed all the Navigraph add ons from the sim except the nav data itself, and it still crashed.

Interesting, I thought I was narrowing in a potential conflict, but now I can delete the last waypoint but suffer a CTD on hitting Esc to open the menu. Same as posted above.

I have added in all of my 2024 add ons back into my community folder. The Navigraph data, the Real Sim Gear utility, a few sceneries, the Maddog, CRJ, JF Warrior, and the FSW 414. I did not try removing the scenery, but I tried just about everything else.

With everything back in the folder, my CTDs have consistently moved from deleting the last waypoint to the first time I hit Esc after deleting the last waypoint.

As a workaround, though, if you have only two waypoints left (origin and destination), deleting the origin will make the destination the new origin, and allow you to delete it without issue.

Thanks for the feedback. I will add pressing escape to the list of things for my testers to check out.

                Today's Update:

I had several generous individuals test my new version overnight, and we seem to have pinpointed the two function calls that cause a crash within Asobo's GPS (flight management) code. I created a workaround solution that seems to be CTD-free. I still have to test it to ensure that all FMS/AP features work correctly, but I think we will have a solution for Monday or Tuesday!

Thank you all again, so much.

I came here to ask if you were running FSUIPC because this is the conclusion I just reached 😂😂

Dammit, I could have saved myself an hour.

I did discover that it is the act of leaving that single origin waypoint in, though. If you delete the destination, then the origin and have a blank plan, it will not crash when you open the menu. If you open the menu with only the origin, it crashes. I tried and could not get into that state any other way that by adding two and then deleting the destination.

@Black-Square Nick, do any of your testers use FSUIPC? I'm concerned by the change in crash characteristics depending on whether or not it is running, as FSUIPC is normally always running for me since I do my advanced binding through it.

Edit: the workaround of deleting the origin first does not work with FSUIPC running. Erase all waypoints also CTDs with FSUIPC running.

@jmarkows I do not think it is FSUIPC, as for me the crash will occur without FSUIPC as well, just not right away, but on pressing ESC.
@Black-Square Sounds like good news 🙂
Hope you get some sleep now

The fact that FSUIPC running changes anything regarding the crash concerns me greatly. Without it, you can clear the flight plan with a clever workaround. With it, you cannot.
