You mentioned in V1's video that icing is automatic. We have inertial separators and a few other things, so I assume you were implying that is just the wings and not the engine intakes? That how it sounds in the manual. Is there any speed restriction on operating the IS such as with the TBM?

Also, I am flying in 2024 for now, but I have had trouble with the AP making strange turns. It seems to occur near waypoints, but I haven't narrowed it down. What I have found unusual is that entering a DIRECT-TO waypoint does not pick up from a PPOS position. It appears to turn and search around to find these waypoints. Once on the track needed the plane handles it just fine. I think I'm just struggling with the FMS and realize I need to just learn it, but I'm curious to try the Starship in 2020 to see if it behaves similarly. It definitely has me feeling really dumb at the moment.

Also, is there a way to enter the IAP in the CDU without disrupting the FP? Usually entering an IAP in a GPS (GNS, GTN, Boeing/Airbus) will just append the IAP to FP and you have to edit a little to make it connect. I've noticed in this plane the selection of an IAP will throw you off track and interject waypoints in weird places.

For example, on the approach to KTIW, I has entered JJAMM as my last waypoint coming from the south so I could enter the ILS 17 properly. Once I select ILS 17, I got JJAMM a CF fix, back to JJAMM, then SCENN. It made no sense and I couldn't edit it to remove the CF fix and extra JJAMM, so that I just crossed JJAMM and proceeded to SCENN and onto the runway.

Yes, just the deicing boots. I could not find any mention of an airspeed limitation in the training manual, but there is an ambient temperature limitation of -53°C.

I suppose I would have to see the autopilot behavior you're talking about, but you are correct that there is no way to load an approach without activating it.

I have seen this issue with the computer fixes on some approaches when a hold in lieu of procedure turn is involved. I thought about trying to clean up the approaches myself, but this is something that's handled differently across the world, so one solution for the US might mess up something in Europe. I would just recommend entering manual system control mode to get passed those waypoints for now.

Ok thank you Nick! It's a beautiful plane by the way! Wonderful work 🙂
