Turbo Commander Progress
-
I'm glad you're excited! I think you're hardly alone in that respect when it comes to the Twin Commanders. It's been progressing in the background. I would like to publish an update about all my projects soon with the release of the Baron and Bonanza Professional, so I'm trying to figure out what milestone I can show off with the Twin Commanders.
@Black-Square
KingAir infos maybe
My most flown aircraft in XPlane. And most time spent to learn every bit and peace about it ...Oliver

@BlackFly Thanks so much for the offer!! Luckily, I already have a number of volunteers, including a two-in-one visit including another upcoming aircraft. In the off chance that you're more local, do you mind sharing what part of the world you're in? If not, then no worries!
@Black-Square I'm in Ontario. The Commanders are down for winter maintenance now so if you need any pictures of hard to see areas now would be a great time lol

@Black-Square Also forgot to mention I have manuals for just about everything, POH, checklist, QRH, maintenance manuals, different avionics options....I think i've got around 30-35 just for the 690 lol

@BlackFly Thanks for writing again. With the release of the Baron and Bonanza tomorrow, I've been a little forgetful. I should be good on documentation, but what I wanted to ask about was the Commander 685. That's been the real challenge, because there are very few of them left. I've just been asking everyone in the Commander circles to get in touch if they know anyone with access to a 685. I don't have as much documentation for the 685, but the MM, and various brochures should suffice.

@Black-Square Just picked up the Bonanza and Baron today, but also really looking forward to the 690B (And 685!). I was wondering, as I'm hoping to be able to do an Around-the-world flight in it, will it have the option for the 100 gallon Auxiliary Slipper tanks? Would be helpful for that last push from Japan to Alaska!

That's how I have it set up currently, with a 1,700+ nm range. I'm hoping the 685 will be more fun than people might imagine due to a number of features, including that extra range.

@Black-Square Sounds good! So both the 685 and 690B will have the option of the slipper tanks?

@St.-Agre I haven't seen any documentation in passing yet that said this was an option for the 690, but I also haven't begun my research in earnest yet. Currently, I have 322 usable for the 685, and 388 usable for the 690.

@Black-Square Oh interesting, I'll have to do some document hunting then. My interest was piqued because I saw a listing for a 690B with the tanks here: https://aircraftexchange.com/jet-aircraft-for-sale/details/2379/1978-twin-commander-690
Either way, will be fun to dive in and see what I can find. I'll let you know!

@Black-Square I have time in a 690B with slipper tanks so it's definitely a thing

@Black-Square I would like to hear a Boris 8 cylinder engine.... a nice io-720 would be cool
-
Will 690B include the option for 5-blade MT props?

Been flying the crap out of the turbine duke amazing product. Used to fly all the king air series IRL and the way the turbine duke sounds and operates is hands down top notch. I also flew the 690B IRL and is my favorite turbo prop to date beside the Cheyenne 400LS. Reason Iโm inquiring on this side of community is trying to get in touch with the DEV team to see if I would be able to help with testing as i fly daily in sim and in VR. 17 years experience IRL in most turbo props and last gig was straight 525. (Really looking forward to the 690) also waiting on the B200

@Grauadler Glad you're looking forward to it. I've actually been doing screenshots and preparing a news update about the Twin Commanders for very soon. I've had a lot of people get in touch with real world Commander experience, and one of them was nice enough to host me for sound recording and flying so I could learn the feel of the aircraft first hand. I will add your username to the growing list if the time comes that I need more testers. Thank you very much for volunteering!

@ramonesg I wanted to have the news update done for Monday, but my house was struck by lightning last night causing some damage, and I'm still discovering what has been fried. The strike blew some light switches straight out of the wall and across the room! Luckily, all my aircraft are safe, but my video editing computer (which I was using at the time) seems to have received some damage. Hopefully I will be back up and running with a recovered disk this week, and there was no actual damage to the hardware.

@Black-Square sorry to hear that but glad to hear you're ok.
