    Good afternoon,

I've done a few flights so far in the RJ professional which I purchased yesterday. It's a cool jet to fly, but I'm having issues with the landing and the autothrottle.

In all of my flights so far, with autothrottle enabled to maintain VREF+5, below 50 feet it appears that autothrottle is engaging climb power (presumably GA?). This is shortly after the callout to deploy speedbrakes. I thought the manual indicated that autothrottle would change to retard mode below 50 feet radio altitude.

    My most recent flights were:

    • FS2024, autopilot left on for autoland, and
    • FS2020, autopilot disconnected about 500 AGL.
Autothrottle was left on in both instances.

I am wondering if there is something I am missing when it comes to the landing? I have a thrustmaster hotas one but I doubt it has anything to do with the issue.

    Thanks so much!
    Jose

It's tricky to know for certain what's happening in the simulator without seeing it for ourselves in a screenshot/video, but the RETARD mode is simulated during an autoland and should engage if the autoland requirements are met.

The following requirements must be met in order for the autoland function to engage:

      • ILS frequencies are tuned and valid in both VHF NAV radios
      • Autopilot is engaged in LOC* and GS* modes
      • Radio altitude is between 1,500ft and 600ft
      • Flaps are 24° or more

Once the autoland function is engaged:

      • CAT 3/AUTO LAND annunciators illuminate
      • The flare (FLR) mode is armed

If the aircraft maintains the autoland requirement through to landing, at 50ft radio altitude, RETARD and FLR modes will engage, which simultaneously reduce the throttles to idle and flare the aircraft for landing.

If you still see this behaviour with autoland conditions met, could I kindly ask you to raise a support ticket with Just Flight support via the following link: https://www.justflight.com/support

In the support ticket, if you could provide a video of that behaviour, then our support team will be in the best position to see what may be occurring and offer any troubleshooting advice.

Hello Mark, thank you... I have been trying to read up a little more on the autothrottle since my initial post. The consensus seems to be (plus your noting that retard mode is simulated during autoland) that if I do not autoland, I should also disengage autothrottle before landing.

In any case I will try to give autoland another shot today in FS2020 and record a video if necessary.

        Jose
