Hoping for RJ performance improvements
-
Panning the camera is noticeably more jittery and less pleasant than in the 146. The main thread seems to be bogged down considerably more. I know this is your first glass cockpit airliner, but many other airliners out there (PMDG 737 for example) have considerably better performance/smoothness. Hoping for improments in this area and would appreciate you looking into this. Thanks.

She's for sure a little chuggy relative to her size, would also like to see some further optimization.

Thank you for your feedback. We're always looking for ways that we can improve performance in our products, but it is always a balancing act between visual fidelity and outright FPS. it's an area that will see constant variations throughout a product's lifetime, so we will continue to monitor forum threads like this and take any necessary actions in the upcoming updates to the product.

The poor performance is almost certainly unrelated to visual fidelity and is instead related to the main thread (as can be seen by the GPU period of 9.7ms compared to the main thread period of 22.7 ms). Also the FPS is smooth as butter with the plane cold and dark. As soon as it's powered up, it gets jittery (yes I lealize that some performance drop is to be expected with the plane's systems running). So I'm pretty sure this is related to the performance of the systems coding and not at all related to visuals.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. I've measured a consistent 10 FPS or more(!) gap to PMDG and Fenix (in the same situations). That may not sound like much - but if I only have 20 FPS instead of 30 in EDDF, for example, I certainly won't be using the product there.
And I also notice that the performance drops when I put it from cold&dark into operation. So we're not even talking about “glass cockpit” but about all systems in general. -
I can confirm. I had no traffic, no external apps in Europe and frames were between 19-32. If I scan around I drop too low to have any smooth motion. The lowest FPS I get in the other add-ons (Fenix, PMDG, Black Square, iniBuilds A300) is ~35 in the worst conditions, but without stuttering while looking around. In the air I usually get 60 FPS, which is my capped setting on all add-ons, but the RJ never breaks 40.
I have a 13900 and 4090 with 64 MB of RAM.

I fly 100% in VR with a 7800x3d and 4080s, mix of medium/high graphic settings. I find this aircraft comparable to the FBW A32NX, maybe even a little better. Sort of better than expected. I get around 35-40 fps at med-large handcrafted airports with live traffic, and a fair bit higher when in the air. I'm not as sensitive to FPS as some might be (especially in VR) but I have my limits and the FBW A380 performs so poorly at the moment that it's unusable for me.
It does seem like it's less to do with the GPU demands and more so the CPU, with that hopefully 2024's promise of optimizations on this front, will help things. I recall the one of FBW team members mentioning that their A380 performed better in the 2024 tech alpha than 2020.

We had this issue early on with the 146.
CPU use was spiking.
... ( As it is here. You can almost predict it... levelling off after climb, turning via Lnav control... very noticeable.)It was sorted after a while... maybe 2 patches (?)... so hopefully this will be too.
Tldr; go back and see what caused this with the 146 😁

Meanwhile I use a Ryzen 9800x3d and even with those „fastest gaming-cpu ever“ its the same drama. For example at KJFK I can push the RJ easily below 25 FPS with a bit BATC-Traffic. That is way way worse than any other addon.

I also have this problem but not so much since on Xbox X series some textures have been lowered. I would have preferred them to be lowered in other parts of the plane that are not easily visible, but whatever, hopefully they can find a solution to improve performance

@Aviator-00 2020 or 2024?
