Velocity XL and new G3X coming in SU-15
-
I'm talking with the TDS developer right now, and it sounds like we might have something we can release after Flight Sim Expo in a couple of weeks. I would try to release something earlier, but this is the version that we want to submit for the in-game Marketplace.
-
@Black-Square thanks for the update, I’m refreshing this thread daily and it took a lot of self control to not ask for progress reports. :)
So no issues with PMS 750, just TDS? -
Any Velocity update?…
-
@Black-Square she's lurking, waiting for the update...
-
About a month and a half since an update. Kind of concerning.
-
Nothing to be concerned about, but I'm glad you're eagerly awaiting the update! I was hoping to release the update with support for the PMS50 GTN and the TDS GTNxi at the same time (or at least have the base capability to support both), but the beta testing period for the TDS GTNxi is taking a little while longer. I will take your message as an opportunity to message the developer this week to get a status update.
-
@Black-Square I think they've released an update yesterday actually. The TDS GTNxi Pro should now be compatible with the G3X.
-
You're correct! I'm looking at the changelog right now. Given how proactive the developer is, I suspect I might receive an email from him any minute now. Thank you for the heads up!
-
@Black-Square Are you by any chance adding anything beyond the G3X support? Like any basic wear and tear?
PS. I've gotten impatient and got back into the Velocity XL after flying the excellent DA42 for a while, and I have to say I like the... Velocity better. Aside from the Velocity having much more sensitive pitch (don't know if that's realistic or not), despite being much older the interior graphics still hold up. The GTN750 is not annoying to use like the G1000, and it flies faster. But the main reason I prefer the Velocity is that the workload is spread throughout the flight, not just a long (and mostly optional) startup checklist, then hardly anything. There's actually stuff to do. I hope with the additional expected Marketplace/Xbox sales you might consider adding features you learned along the way, like some simple wear and tear maybe, or some dirt on the outside (and include that as a separate layer in a paint kit ;) )

@Black-Square I just purchased the velocity and am eagerly awaiting the G3X update .
This was the only BlackSquare addon I had not purchased yet and the summer sale seemed like a good moment to do so. I can't wait to try the G3X update but I am having fun with it already. -
For Velocity XL fans, here's a maxed-out real build I hadn't seen before, N956M:

It can taxi in reverse! Can we get that? :) -
@Black-Square : serious question, any chance you simulate add a reversible prop, like in that N956M? I fly it to small airports, and it would be really useful to park inside hangars etc.
-
@Jouxeur33 Do you have the TDS GTNXi Pro version? You need that to pair the GTN with the G3X.
-
I saw this happen once during my testing, but it fixed itself without reloading the aircraft. I'm sorry that I don't remember exactly what fixed it. It may have been deleting and reloading the flight plan, but it also may have been restarting the TDS software from the system tray. During my testing, I experienced a scenario where the TDS software suffered some kind of memory leak which caused its RAM usage to increase to ~5GB. This may have been related.

I did a few flights and it's such a great plane. The engine management with the new lean assist and monitoring, plus customizable screen layout makes it even better than before.
@Black-Square do you plan to add any minor features or enhancements to it after Starship is done? All I can think of would making high-res textures for the landing gear bays (they show up in the external views or when people inspect the plane on the ground), and the reversible prop would be really cool. Some dirt maybe.
