Demist is anti-ice?

Hi all, I just flew my first live flight in the Hawk, been doing the tutorial so far until I felt comfortable. I encountered clouds when flying from CYOD to CYMJ and saw icing start to form on the canopy. I couldn't find anything about anti-ice in the manual, so I selected demist, and voila, no more ice, even though I flew through some more clouds on the way in.

Is demist a British term for anti-ice? or is it just how JF decided to implement anti-ice... or did I just get lucky and not freeze over?

@katchaplin yes, demist has been the British term since the 1960s, possibly earlier.
