Fixes from Just Flight Support P3Dv4

Hi Capt Quirk,
I did download 7 Zip but when I try to open the files I get the message "unable to open"
Have you tried to open them?
Cheers
Gary

@Lockheed-lad
At the moment, I cannot access the files, Gary..but I'll keep trying!
I confess that I'm not entirely up to speed on all this filesharing malarkey..my aged brain is sadly limited by its outdated processor :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
Back to JF, perhaps??? -
Hi again,
I went back to JF about not being able to open the files and they offered me a refund for TG. Having spent 2.5 years trying to make it work properly that was not what I wanted to hear!
I think they are now wanting to ditch P3D users to concentrate on the new Microsoft FS market!

This does not surprise me.

I don't think it is a case of wanting to ditch P3D owners. God knows, we have a heck of a lot of them! If you can't open the files we sent then there isn't much more we can do. I'll let the Support team know you don't want a refund.
Bottom line with this is, have you got Traffic Global running and putting AI traffic into P3D, or is that you can't get the software to work?
Amending schedules and adding other aircraft is not really part of the core program, so wouldn't strike me as something that requires a refund - but then I can't see the full story from here (which is why we don't do support via forums). -

I doubt much ever does.
Can we expect an update in the near future then it would be nice to keep us informed if it`s not too much to ask.

If you have bought the software from us and we have permission to contact you, then we always notify customers of any update.
Otherwise, there is a list in Support of all updates and a changelog (that's a list of the things the update has done) for each version. This is the one from Traffic Global (P3D) as an example:

Firstly, I do not possess TG but have used most of the varieties of JF Traffic AI generators but I do keep myself informed as to what seems to be going on with the multiple iterations of TG, having had some contact with Rich when TG was first mooted.
I do find that the part of the statement above that I have highlighted seems to be a fundamentally strange decision on JF's part that TG is only there to add pre-determined schedules and aircraft without there being an easy way to add to or edit such schedules and indeed add extra aircraft. Was this statement an accurate representation of JF's ambitions for this program?
If so, I am pleased that I decided to stick with my now antiquated but fully functioning methods of adding AI to my sim. -
@Lockheed-lad "Unhandled exception"
Bonjour, regardez ceci: [https://community.justflight.com/topic/1655/v-1-1-2-2-ga-traffic-cargo-traffic](link url)
Je n'ai plus d'erreurs d'exceptions suite "point" à la place de la "virgule"

I had the same problem for a long time but managed to get it working by coincidence. What I did was to got to national settings in Windows 10 and change the setting for decimal point from a comma to a point. Then restarted the PC (it did not work before restart) and suddenly I got Global Traffic to compile cargo and GA flights without errors. Not sure if it would work for you but it might be worth a try.Jord77

If so, I am pleased that I decided to stick with my now antiquated but fully functioning methods of adding AI to my sim.If you mean, is it designed to work 'out of the box' with the minimum of tinkering and add realistic AI traffic that is a vast improvement over the default, then yes - 100%. For most users there should be no need to download additional content or modify the core program.
Obviously, we acknowledge that people will want to tinker - hence why we add paint kits to aircraft programs and it's possible to modify aspects of Traffic Global. If you follow the thread the issue is mostly about being unable to unpack the zip files containing some modified parts of the program for this particular user. Not something that's universally needed and, given the success of this software, doesn't seem to be needed by many other users. This was an attempt to help out a customer trying to do some mods and who had an issue with unhandled exceptions. It has not worked by the look of things. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, it seems.

The second is a request for easy to follow instructions on how to add 3rd party aircraft models and liveries.
Sorry that I wasn't of any help to you in accessing those files Gary, but I did dabble with adding third party aircraft to TG quite some while ago.
The only way that I could get the program to recognise them was to copy the relevant Simobjects folder across to the TG fleet folder.
The program then picks them up along with all the TG planes.
I just tried it again with a variety of freeware with very mixed results (so I don't really know if that'd work for your purposes).
Personally, I took to 'filling in the gaps' using other easily installed freeware ai (which runs quite happily alongside TG) so quickly abandoned the idea of trying to figure out how to do it within the TG program. -

Are we to take it that the greyed out Tabs on the TG interface are not going to be developed AKA Edit aircraft , Import Aircraft, Export Aircraft. TG started out with so much planed. -
Derek,
Yes I have TG running. I have had it running for over 2 years but its not fully functional. I have lost count of how many time I have written to TG about the many frustrations I and I'm sure many other users have experienced. Here are a few examples which still have not been resolved:
- Cargo traffic does not compile
- I cannot amend any aspect of a "My AI Flight Plan" because I get the message "Unhanded exception has occurred etc" I have produce many hundreds of flight plans but I cannot change the aircraft, the timings, the traffic density etc
- I and probably many more users would love to be able to add 3rd party AI aircraft from web sites like JCAI.DK etc. This is a TG feature which JF promote. The users manual indicates that the user will need to have set up a valid aircraft folder within the TG fleet folder. However its does not say what a valid aircraft folder is. I have been asking for clarification of this for 2 years
- Liveries disappear with various updates. For example we used to have TUI and Jet2 757's but they have now gone
- Why oh why does TG have the A380 model in fictional liveries like Siam, TAP, AirTran etc. Any new user must be scratching their head wondering just how acute and credible TG really is when they see this!
I'm at a loss to understand why these issues cannot be resolve once and for all.. Offering refunds is not the answer.
