cannot re-engage PROF
-
Doing the tutorial flight but changed my planned cruising level from F310 to F350, AFCS switched to LVLCH, but now I cannot get PROF to engage anymore. Occasionally I get a ding-dong and an amber AFCS warning on the MFDU for less then a second. Normal?

Could I kindly ask you to raise a support ticket for this with Just Flight Support at the following link: https://www.justflight.com/support

I wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else is facing a similar issue and I saw this topic. I've encountered this problem twice now, after using FLCH, I can no longer re-engage PROF mode, contrary to what the manual indicates. I checked the constraints, and everything appears to be normal. As mentioned above, I too occasionally receive a ding-dong alert along with an amber AFCS warning.

Try to check FMS page for opt and max cruise alt. The ding dong ist likely that you set a cruise alt above the value wich FMS says is max. I had no problems so far with steps climbs and re engage prof mode if used cruise alt isnt greater as FMS indicated max Cruise LVL.

I checked the Flight Management System (FMS), and my altitude is not above the maximum limit, yet I am experiencing the same issue. Typically, these problems occur due to incorrect flying techniques, so I may be doing something wrong. In all instances, I was cleared for the initial climb to a specified altitude, which I entered into the box and armed by pulling the knob. The aircraft then entered Flight Level Change (FLCH) mode, and after that, it wouldn’t return to profile mode.

It appears that the aircraft is not calculating the "Top of Climb" (end of the climb phase), meaning there is no vertical flight profile available. Without a vertical profile, the PROF mode cannot be used. One reason for this could be a missing weight entry. Make sure to enter the fuel weight and ZFW on the "INIT B" page before engine start.

Fuel, weights, CofG and PERF entries can be input directly into the MCDU by the EFB, unless pilots choose instead to manually enter these, which is fine.
I keep seeing similar issues with FLC vs. PRF whereby PRF absolutely refuses to engage.
I usually climb out initially on FLC until constraints and/or busy airspace are out of the way after which I try selecting PRF mode, except it won’t engage. -
I appear to have the same issue.
I noticed a warning about a wrong cruise FL (FMC shows 350 max, I've set 300 for CRZ) shortly after takeoff.
When I click around on the autopilot panel, I get a lot AFCAS TARGET warnings on the ECAM display, which disappear and re-appear after a split second. -
I’m a bit at a loss with PRF not engaging.
My present route is MDPC-TAPA and whilst PRF was initially enabled somehow it switched to FLC and I could not re-engage it (maybe at CLB call-out).
My selected FL is within the MCDU max (FL310 vs. FL350) and I’ve tried different routes between the airports.
BATC is clearing me to climb through SID constraints, which I’m happy to do (though I wonder if this has something to do with it?).
PRF has been OK up until now in my other flights but then I didn’t chop and change CLB modes.
Has anyone found a workaround to allow PRF to be re-engaged?
