    Hi, I have Msfs2024 SU2 and purchased the PA-38 a week ago. The MSFS2024 VERSION IS INSTALLED AND NOT THE MSFS2020 VERSION.I have the PA-28 bundle and the problem I am having does not happen with the PA 28Pipers. When I spawn at a parking area in the sim and enter the plane my Saitek yoke will work properly, ailerons and elevators with full travel. The rudder and front wheel steering moves slightly recognising the ground friction and the toe brakes will travel fully.

    I complete the walk around on the EFB and prepare to start the engine. On every occasion after the walk around before and after start, the yoke will only operate the ailerons, there is no movement in and out for elevators. Also there is not the slightest movement of the front wheel steering using the pedals.
    I have tried moving under power but they still remain inoperative. It only happens after the walk around when the EFB shows pitot cover tie-down etc have been removed, prior to that the work perfectly. If I sit in the cockpit and unchecked the covers, tie down, pitot cover etc, the same problem occurs.

    I have the same config ( yoke and rudder pedals) file for the controllers for the PA 38 as the PA 28 and it doesn't happen with the 28. I have tried all the GA planes in the sim and it only happens with the PA 38. I am at a loss and searched the manual thinking the plane might have a control lock but I don't think it does.

    Does anyone have any ideas.

    Thank you Mike EGGP

      My best guess is that you damaged the rudder (cables). If you exercise the pedals too much while not moving, they will get damaged and not work at all. I don't know if that shows up in the maintenance or not, but I do know it can happen per the manual and per dev's posting about it on here.

        Thanks for that. I will have a look tomorrow. Regarding the yoke, there is no animation when moved in and out, elevators but the yoke is animated when using the ailerons.

          Hmm, not sure about the yoke animation, I will check it next time I fly the Tomahawk. I know yoke animation was mentioned by JustFlight at some point, so maybe it's not playing nice with your Saitek yoke? I have a CH Products Flight Sim Yoke which is the predecessor to the Saitek yoke I believe.

          I do have Saitek rudder pedals, a really old set and I'm surprised they've held up all these years.

            After trying various scenario's in FS2024 and FS2020 I have discovered elevator control using the Saitek Yoke works 100% until the engine is started, when I only have aileron control and the virtual yoke does not move in and out when the real yoke is operated. If I switch the engine off then control of the elevators and visual movement of the virtual yoke returns. If I start the engine up again the problem re occurs. Damage is off. what a weird problem. I will raise a ticket at support. Thank you for your help.

            Mike, now off on vacation.

              @miked176766

              I think I have found the problem. I purchased the PA38 Tomahawk on the MSFS 2020 Marketplace and this updated in MSFS 2020 on Friday (20/06/25). This worked fine in MSFS 2020. I ran MSFS 2024 and looked in my Library for the PA38 Tomahawk which still shows as the 2020 version not certified for MSFS 2024. I set this version to install and stream. On running the aircraft it loaded and allowed me to enter the cockpit. I tested for full control movement stick and rudder which both showed full movement. On starting the engine I could only get aileron movement, no elevator or rudder. With this version still set to stream the loss of elevator and rudder is passed on to the PA28’s that are installed as MS 2024 certified. If I then set the PA 38 to disabled the PA 28’s all return to normal rudder and aileron behaviour. My conclusion is that until we have an MSFS 2024 certified copy of the PA38 Tomahawk in the marketplace this problem will persist.
