Is Tacan broken?

I am working my way through the demo flight in the Hawk.
I have tuned the Tacan and have taken off and can hear the Tacan beeping but the HSI is dead as a doornail.
Two red flags (GS+NAV) and crossed out Miles To. Course is 000. Nothing I do brings the HSI to life.

Any ideas?

I have already done a full reinstall of the latest version of the Hawk on MSFS 2020.

User error. The Tacan receiver is picking up the signal about 40 miles out. I just needed to get closer.
