Comm radios : monitoring VHF2
-
Testing this with v1.1, I'm unable to reproduce the issue.
I've:
- Started a flight on the ramp
- Selected the turnaround state on the EFB
- Waited for the aircraft to finish powering up
- Tuned COM 1 to the ground frequency, tuned COM 2 to the ATIS frequency
- Pushed in the VHF 2 volume control on the left side console and rotated it to select 100% volume
I can then instantly hear the ATIS, and the volume control correctly affects the volume.

For use with Vatsim_vPilot,you have to press RX3 button, as well. I just have sent a support ticket.

Interesting, I've not yet had time to take the RJ out for more than a few minutes at a time, but this isn't how the 146 panel works.
Black Square also requires Com 3 to be set to Rx to hear Com 2 with vpilot and it's the one thing I wish Nick would change; I hate it.

That sounds like a quirk of the vPilot software as our audio system is configured to work correctly per the 2020/2024 SDK. If they can clarify the behaviour of their software then we should be able to include some logic for that.

vPilot only know 2 channels. So why do i have to interact with the RX3 button?
@Martyn see also ticket 83666. -
Several tests later and useful information in here, i can confirm that Rx2 AND Rx3 has to be switched ON to monitor VHF2 on VatSim. Volume of Rx2 has to be set to ZERO, if not you will hear mixed ATIS from VatSim and MSFS. Volume of Rx3 does not affect the sound level in VatSim (always maximum).
If not connected to VatSim, monitoring VHF2 works fine with only Rx2 ON. And also volume works fine when rotating. @Martyn : this confirms your testing

@Huibrecht Why isn't MSFS ATC muted or off when on VATSIM?
-
-
If it's off you shouldn't be hearing the MSFS ATIS.

Ross Carlson published a beta-update for vPilot. Version 3.11.0.
I already tested it (as beta tester) and the problems, with monitoring the "not-TX-channel", without selecting RX3, are gone.
