In regards to the FL310 vs FL350 max flight altitude for some aircraft, is there a general summary of what the differences were and also what procedures are specific to climbing past FL310 aside from the climb speed limit of M66? I think i remember hearing or reading there was additional training for the higher altitude certified aircraft operators.

Wasn't it something to do with the aircraft pressurisation system?

Aircraft with the fully automatic pressurization system are certified for FL350.
Aircraft with the semi-automatic pressurization system are certified for FL310 or FL330. (varies with aircraft)

The semi-automatic system has the pressurization panel from the 146.

The semi-automatic and fully automatic pressurization systems are of course operated differently so if you had only ever handled one of the two systems, I would assume that you would need some extra training. (probably a very brief CBT course)

Other than that, I can't really see what would be different other than speeds and pressurization system procedures.
