v1.1 Update Details
-
You're saying that you get that message on the GNS 540/430 right now? That message was removed completely from v1.1 of the Dukes, and can be bypassed by selecting the correct installer option in v1.0. If you have v1.1 installed and you're still getting that message, then try uninstalling the aircraft completely and reinstalling, just in case the installer missed updating the files somehow. If you still receive that message, then there is something truly strange going on, and I can send you to Just Flight support to look further into the problem. If that's not what you're seeing and I misunderstood, please feel free to explain some more.
-
@Black-Square I'll check today to see if I'm still on an older version of the Duke Turbine. If so and updating doesn't help then I'll update the avionics packages.
"Why is the autopilot behaving strangely, not changing modes,
showing HDG/NAV simultaneously, or not capturing altitudes?
This is indicative of GPS addon incompatibility. Please make sure that you have updated all
the avionics packages that you are using, including the TDS GTNxi 750, the PMS50 GTN 750,
and the WT GNS 530, and that you do not have any outdated packages, such as the original
PMS50 GNS 530 modification.
No additional packages should be required for the autopilot to work correctly with the
various GPS choices. The product is tested with ONLY the TDS GTNxi 750, the freeware
PMS50 GTN 750, and the free WT GNS 530 marketplace package installed. Please see the
“Third Party Navigation & GPS Systems'' section of this manual for more information" -
@Black-Square version 1.1 was installed on June 14th so I'm uninstalling and downloading now to re-install. Do you expect I'll need to look for GNS updates also?
-
After re-installing if I choose 530 (650 secondary) the AP is ok but the top avionics unit shows the error message. With 750-650 AP is not ok ( shows go around button for no apparent reason etc)
With either KLN90B or KX 155B the screen looks right and the AP works.
I've been mostly a VFR pilot who uses AP a lot, so if AP works I could live with the error message,but if I begin to explore IFR it wouldn't be great.Two screen shots here:
[https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Hhnu7_ukIsDrBFrl_j4_5FM_wcP86Qcv?usp=sharing](link url) -
Is the GNS 530 working for you also? I had no idea an outdated PMS50 GTN could cause that message to appear, but I have at least a hunch about why that might happen.
-
@Black-Square The 530 ( 650 secondary) combination originally showed the error message on the upper "glass" but the autopilot functioned normally. I only updated the 750, but can see what the 530 combo is doing in the morning.
-
@Black-Square said in v1.1 Update Details:
GNS 530
Neither the 530 nor 430 work. They show the yellow error message on the glass. 750-650 does work. I own the 530 from the marketplace.
-
I just checked the current version, and it should be impossible for the aircraft to display those messages on v1.1. This means that some files are not being overwritten when you try to install the new version. To confirm this, you could look at any of the panel.cfg files, such as in "...\Community\bksq-aircraft-pistonduke\SimObjects\Airplanes\bksq-aircraft-grandduke\panel.base"
If this file contains the text "WtGnsSu15Warning", then we know what didn't get updated. As for what to do about that... I could send you the files to fix it yourself, but I would much rather figure out why your installer is not working, since it means that other files might be outdated too. Please feel free to check the contents of that file, and then I might have to pass you off to Just Flight support, since I know nothing about how the installers work. I'm sure they will have seen this sort of issue before, as they've been using similar installers for many years now. Thanks for staying in touch.
-
@Black-Square I'm using the turbine duke I pasted in a directory listing at the bottom. My community folder has a symbolic link ( junction) to the actual location of the files on my E drive. The only "community" add on referencing these avionics is pms50-instrument-gtn750

That's a good trick with the symbolic link. I remember setting that up for X-Plane years ago.
This is a truly bizarre issue. Are you sure you don't have a second copy of the v1.0 Turbine Duke somewhere on your computer that is somehow being loaded and superseding the one in this linked community folder?
Could you send me the contents of the panel.cfg files in any of the panel directories, please?

//The tail number can be positioned on the winglets, the tail, or on the sides of the aircraft, or any combination at the same time.
//Each position ("s" = side, "t" = tail, and "w" = winglets) has the following associated variables:
//"v" = whether to show the tail number in that position (0=false, 1=true)
//"x" = the nose-tail position of the tail number
//"y" = the top-bottom position of the tail number
//"r" = the rotation of the tail number (will accept decimals)
//"k" = shears the tail number, positive values shear top towards tail
//"s" = the font size of the tail number
//Example "tk=30": t = tail, k = skew. This will shear the tail number on the tail towards the tail of the aircraft by 30 degrees
//For livery creators, the tail number will not automatically resize, so make sure there is room for a full six character number
//Apologies for the short variable names. MSFS seems to cap URL's at around 215 characters.
//Tail Number Positioning:
//Side +X -> Forward, -Y -> Up
//Tail -X -> Forward, -Y -> Up
//Wing -X -> Forward, -Y -> Up
//NOTE: These values can be easily edited live using the Coherent GT Debugger from the MSFS SDK.[VPainting02]

Thanks for posting those. The PMS50 folder is just the GTN 750 addon, which should have nothing to do with the message we're seeing here. From the panel.cfg that you posted, there should be absolutely no way for the aircraft to ever load my warning message. At this point, I suggest contacting Just Flight support, since they can look at your screenshots and directories to see what's going on here. If they can't get anywhere, they will bring me in the loop again when we have more information. From what I'm seeing here, I'm still betting that there is another copy of the v1.0 aircraft somewhere that the simulator is loading instead of this one. That seems like the only way to me that it could ever load the old v1.0 warning message.
Unless... you're not using a custom livery installed in the community folder, are you?
-
@Black-Square There are a couple of 3rd party liveries in community. Not sure how often I use them but they do reference version 1.0
"dependencies": [
{
"name": "Turbine Duke N80WE",
"package_version": "1.0"
}
],
"content_type": "AIRCRAFT",
"title": "Turbine Duke N80WE",
"manufacturer": "MANUFACTURER",
"creator": "ryanbatc", -
The liveries could only cause the v1.0 message to load if you were using them while testing this issue. Otherwise, they should have no effect. Since you were able to conduct a global search for text strings before, do you think you could search for the following string in all *.cfg files on your system, or anywhere you think there is even a small chance of there being MSFS related files?
NavSystems/bksq-aircraft-turbineduke/WtGnsSu15Warning/WtGnsSu15Warning.html

I use Agent Ransack. In the following results, this path is my own and MSFS should be unaware of it "D:\MSFS FROM LAPTOP\Aircraft"

@Black-Square Duke IFA_Q0VMU.rar
https://flightsim.to/file/75050/infinity-airways-blacksquare-turbine-dukeI'm thinking the "autopilot issue" has nothing to do with liveries/avionics messages. I still sometimes get the AP showing the go around light lit "GA" but if I get it into altitude hold first, then I can usually go from there to attitude hold. So it's either I'm not understanding how it works, or it's a bit "fiddly" and I have to remember how to finesse it.
