    Hi There

I've looked around in various tutorials and can't find a definitive answer to this question....

When transitioning from LNAV to V/L mode, is it necessary to step into HDG select first?

Or is there a method of transitioning directly from RNAV mode and LNAV to NAV mode and V/L?

    Thank you.

@bbetty I am not an BAe 146 pilot but yes, you have to transition via HDG. Why? Because you are flying LNAV with the RNAV button activated (above HSI) so that the FMC is in charge of the route. When you want to fly VOR you have to switch from RNAV to NAV (I don´t have the simulator open so I dont remember the name exactly) were the aircraft follows the vor when you select the NAV mode.
Procedure: you are flying LNAV. Place the heading bug in the heading you are flying. Then (and only then) select HDG. Switch RNAV to NAV in the HSI. Then pres LNAV.
I hope you understand what I tried to explain 😉

@alh Great, thanks for your response. This is the process I’ve been using but wasn’t sure if there was a better way. Appreciate the info.
