If the engine in in good health (checked on the engine page of the tablet), then all you can do is follow the procedure and hope for the best. If you would like some critiques from myself and my forum users, you can upload a video for us to check out.

I am also unable to start the Blacksquare Bonanza. The engine is in good health and I have followed the procedure in this youtube video repeatedly without success.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWtgy3PEzfw

The only way I am able to fly is to start on the runway with the engine running.

Could you provide a <Cntrl> <E> start option that performs the startup procedure for those of us who don't seem to be able to master the engine start technique.?

@jeffreywilliams Could you provide a video of what you are doing, so I could see if anything is amiss? It might not even be something with your technique, but I could still see something indicative of a problem in the background. Also, if you are really unable to start using the proper procedure, my primary suspect would be hardware control binding issues, like for the fuel selectors, firewall shutoff, or mixture.

While I appreciate that providing a video would make it easier for you to troubleshoot, I have never made a video of my flightsim sessions and really do not want to have to learn how to do that to clarify the problem. I just uninstalled and reinstalled the Bonanza. I tried to start it up again carefully following the steps in the video I referenced. No start. I get fuel in the lines and into the cylinders using. Crack the throttle, turn the start switch through the magneto positions, then to the start position. The engine starts to crank but then the start switch immediately snaps back to the run position. I am unable to hold it in the start position. If I use <Cntrl> <E> the engine will continue to crank but will not start.

I flew in a multiplayer session today with a number of my mates and three of us were in the BS Bonanza TC. One reported that he was able to start from Cold and Dark using the procedure referenced in the video. The other BS Bonanza sim pilot was experiencing the same problem I am having - Unable to start from Cold and Dark.

I really enjoy flying the BS Bonanza Pro and compliment you on a quality aircraft addon. I wish I was having a better experience.

Is your primary problem that the magneto switch snaps back to the both position? That absolutely sounds like a hardware conflict. I apologize that I don't have a Ctrl-E solution for you. That key command is a direct link into the simulator's engine simulation, which I have almost entirely bypassed for my engine simulation. I know that there are many, many users who are presently enjoying the engine simulation in the Dukes, Baron, and Bonanza, so there should be no reason that we cannot get you a perfectly working airplane if you are willing to continue troubleshooting with me. It's also possible that Just Flight Support might have a note about something like this in their knowledge database already, since they see more hardware and general simulator problems across many different aircraft than I do.

Imade some experiments and found out, that in my case thea hardware controller from Virtual Fly is the culprit. The module Switcho Engines allows to control battery, alternator 1+2, avionics bus 1+2 and magnetos 1+2. When I disable this modul in the software VFHub from Virtual Fly, I can start the plane.
Of course I would like to use the module, because it is very convenient. Is there any way to circumvent the problem?

OK. Checking back in. I have successfully started the BS Bonanza twice. Same procedure I described before with a change when moving the starter to the start position. I was using the scroll wheel on the mouse to move to the start position, but it would immediately spring back to both. I was able to get to stay in the start position by simultaneously pressing the right mouse button while using the scoll wheel to rotate the switch to the start position. The allowed the engine to turnover enough times to catch and start.

I'm glad you got it working. Out of curiosity, do you know if you're using Lock or Legacy interaction mode? In both modes, the switch is designed to be held either by dragging the mouse, holding right mouse click, or with your hardware controls. I was unaware that anyone was expecting a spring-loaded switch to remain in the start position with just their mouse wheel.

Just checked again. I am using LOCK interaction mode. Dragging the mouse with right mouse does not move the switch for me. Using the scroll wheel rotates the switch position. A slight correction from my prior post. I press and hold the LEFT mouse button while using the scroll wheel to turn the switch to the START position. When the engine starts, I release the left mouse button and the switch returns to the BOTH position.

I checked for my control mappings and as far as I can tell I have no engine controls mapped to hardware except throttle which is assigned to my Joystick Slider. My controls are Keyboard, Mouse, T16000 Joystick, Rudder Pedals.

Before I bound the magnetos to a hardware controller, I was using the mouse too.
For me it worked by using the mouse wheel to take the magnetos up to BOTH, then left click (hold) and drag to START
Then release the left button when it starts
