    Hi

I believe I saw somewhere the dev of FTL stating that FTL does not control the weather. I could be wrong. If I am, where does FTL get its weather? I guess a better question would be, is the weather in game when using FTL historic or real time?

I ask as I have noticed that the weather report I get from ATIS in FS24 often does not correspond with what I am seeing in game when I am using FTL. For example, right now I am currently boarding at EGLL. ATIS says no cloud detected, but in the game there is a very definite layer of cloud.

I am not sure if the fault lies with SimBrief, the game or FTL.

    Many thanks.

FTL doesn't care about the weather right now (which is totally ok, imho). If you have your sim set to live weather, this will be used. But you also can set any custom weather in the sim, if you like. Simbrief (or other tools like ATC-tools) would get problems then, cause they mostly use real weather.

@RogePete Weather is changed when I run FTL. The way I normally do things is:

          1. Launch FS24, select appropriate aircraft and departure airport. Press FLY. The game will launch and I am by my aircraft. Weather loads in. I'm guessing it's live weather as that is what is selected in the game.

          2. Launch FTL, set it up, including SimBrief. Press Go To Aircraft.

As soon as I select Go To Aircraft in FTL the weather in FS24 immediately changes, as does the time of day. I know that FTL does change the time of day. I am wondering if the weather changes because FS24 detects the change in time and downloads historical weather.

The weather changes every time I select Go To Aircraft in FTL.

MSFS 2024 I believe stores historic weather for the previous 24 hours, so if the "Live" weather and time option is enabled in the sim, the weather will change to historical weather whenever the time changes.

The way to prevent this in the sim is to open the "Flight Conditions" page when starting a flight, set weather and time to "Preset" and then select "Live" weather. That will ensure live weather is always applied, regardless of the time selected.

            Hope that helps.
