CTD when deleting flight plan
-
I'm glad you're enjoying the airplane while avoiding this until we fix it. It does break my heart that this is lurking out there, and apparently only for some users.
Unfortunately, it's that step number 5 that's crucial to give me more insight into what's going on. The goal is to induce the CTD by manually deleting the last of only two waypoints, after proving that we can delete other intermediate waypoints first.
-
If this information helps at all. As mentioned in a previous comment. With my experience modifying the flight plan ex: deleting the last 2 waypoints or just plan deleting the entire flight plan with without GNS as primary nav source selected its an instant CTD. Selecting GNS as the nav source then modifying the flight plan seems to work. Its a work around but a little frustrating if you forget to change nav sources.

No kidding it's frustrating! I feel terrible that this was lurking unnoticed by scores of beta testers and streamers, only to affect a select number of you.
Thanks for the information. That's still in line with what I'm trying to test for, but I would like to hear definitively that deleting any waypoints individually other than the last two will not cause a CTD.

Just a shot in the dark because I don't think it's been mentioned yet, could this possibly be related to having the Navigraph Airac Cycle installed into the sim? I'm not sure how it interacts with the default airac (if it overrides it or if they're entirely separate), but I know the iniBuilds A350 had massive stability issues using the Navigraph Airac to the point where they recommended using the default sim navadata instead.
I'm not affected (yet) but it's the first thing that came to my mind because if I remember correctly from one of the preview Videos Nick is not using Navigraph so maybe this could be an explaination. -
Also lurking and submitted a ticket willing to help squash this bug. I am home the next few days and doing nothing but flying the Starship so let me know what you need.

@czcorkery That's a very nice sentiment, which I appreciate a lot. I feel bad when even small mistakes make it to the public, so a big issue like this really eats away at me every minute that it's out there. Starship is my favorite flying machine in the real world, and now virtually, so it's twice as important that I fix this asap.
@Outermarker That's an interesting idea. I don't think that would cause this issue from what I've seen so far, but I didn't think of it, and anything is possible! Thanks for the suggestion.
Would anyone reading this who has experienced the reproducible CTD who is NOT using Navigraph or any other navigation data addon, please make themselves known?

Starship is my favorite flying machine in the real world,
You were the voice we needed for Starship. Like you, Starship is my favorite aircraft ever and I've done the mecca trip to Tullahoma just to see the one there. I've been simming since FS98 and I've been clamoring for a well-done Starship so when you announced yours, I've been awaiting on a baited breath since. Thank you so much and keep up the great work. We can deal with minor bugs.

I'm using Navigraph as well. Did support forward my contact information to you? I had set aside this whole afternoon to help you if you needed but haven't heard anything other than them asking me if it was ok to forward my contact info to you. If you still need help I should be available into the night and this weekend.
Until then - back to the skies!

@Black-Square just tried deleting the navigraph airac cycle for base sim (while keeping other addon-specific navdatabases) -> still got the crash when deleting a flight plan of 3 waypoints
-
Thanks for the data point. I have sent the support team two new versions of Starship to send to those who wrote in, but I think they have taken off for the weekend... I will see if I can retrieve the emails and take over myself.
@knidarkness I was just about to ask someone to do this. Thanks for trying it. I'm not surprised.

Good thing I found this topic...I have the same problem in 2020.
I actually imported the simbreaf flightplan via their toolbar, added the approach, and when I landed, wanted to delete the flight plan, CTD as for the others...I'm glad you already onto it, and wish ya the best
-
Thank you very much. I've been working on it through the night. I have a few test versions for the users who got in touch with me to try. Hopefully a solution soon. So sorry this got into the wild. It got by all my beta testers, and I have yet to find a computer I have direct access to that exhibits the problem. Thank you all for understanding!

@Black-Square,
windows writes a .dmp file on crash. Would that help you? -
Okay, I now removed everytjhing but black square starship from the community folder and it no longer CTDs, I now add the plugins back until it crashes, maybe thats gonna help a bit ...
@Dingle Very interesting! I suspected that this might have something to do with an addon that would explain why only select people are experiencing it. Hopefully we will have the best of both worlds, because I have a solution out for testing right now that will hopefully avoid the situation altogether.
-
@Black-Square Ah, ok. So it's not gonna do much good, if I keep going?
-
I would prefer if you did, unless it's too much trouble! I'm happy to be working towards a solution, but I would much rather know what the culprit is than to simply walk away and say "There be dragons here."
