Release date

Even before the latest disappointing news I did wonder whether, if the initial delay was solely due to the ground physics, we could have an initial release with stock and then get the enhanced behaviours in the (likely to be one anyway) patch later.
I suspect it's not that easy (never is) but I can dream :-)

A pre-release that requires SU15 beta could be interesting... ?

Indeed, I would have elected to release the Dukes by now if the ground handling physics were the only consideration. Unfortunately, the issue lies with the unresolved bug in the Working Title GNS 530 that was introduced last December. Currently, the only solution is to edit the files on your computer, which I thought was an unacceptable solution for the newcomers to that might be joining us with the Duke. You can read my full statement here.
I'm sure this is disappointing to some of you here, because you are likely already familiar with this bug, and ready to enjoy the Dukes. Sadly, these are the considerations we must make when selling a product to a broad audience of users of all different experience levels. Thank you all for waiting!

Pssst... I can sneak you the money under the table and don't mind to fix this myself or ignore it complety because I will surely use your KLN-90B or no GPS at all, because I love your KNS-81 implementation.
I mean... the are so many avionics options, you could put a warning on the description that this is only working after SU15. ๐๐๐ฅบ -
@Black-Square Fair enough - thank you for explaining - comms make all the difference.
-
@Black-Square Thank you for the info, I'd be more than happy with adjusting files as there is no certainty on the SU15 release date. I'm confident there are many others that would agree. My concern is MS could delay SU15 further.
-
@pedwards That's exactly where I find myself either.
We are not sure if it's further delayed because it's their last Sim Update for this year.
I think it would be totally fine with a few flaws until SU15.
Simply put a warning on the shop and we are ready to go, or declare it as an early access version. -
Iโve started to feel the same way, ever since Asobo announced that SU15 would be the only sim update this year. Iโm not even going to be a bit surprised if thereโs another postponement announced next week, pushing SU15 back several more weeks, now that theyโve given themselves that much space. And of course you know there are certain to be issues with SU15 out of the gate, requiring fixes from Asobo that will take another several weeks at the very least. It makes me feel bad for @Black-Square feeling like they canโt release the Dukes for month after month. (And feel bad for me, not getting to fly them, of course.)
-
I suggest @Black-Square makes a hidden shop link and post it here in the forum. ๐
That would also benefit everybody, because we can already report bugs and the Dukes are even more polished when SU15 hits. ๐ -
Not one to check forums often, but I've been keeping an eye on this one for a few days now cause my Duke itch needs to be scratched. Totally understand that Black-Square wants to release these aircraft in the best working condition, but I too would definitely be interested in a sorta "early access" to flying it in its unfinished state. Here's hoping to no more delays to SU15.
-
One of the things that we are all very used to in aviation are delays. Sort of got used to delays at airports (in real life) all the time, so waiting a bit longer for what are going to be fantastic add-ons is not going to kill me. But the anticipation.............

I'm right there with you, I feel bad for black square here too because it's entirely possible they lose the buzz from a month ago and sales can suffer.
-
Hoping more early access review copies were seeded to other reviewers as well - let me just leave it like that :-)
Re: pricing - Wasn't clear to me if the discount was only applicable if both variants were bought concurrently or it would also be available if the 2nd was purchased after some time.
Also, in the stream, the doors were open but looking on the EFB I struggled to see that - may be worth a highlighted block to indicate open vs closed.
Even more impatient now :-)
-
I also watched, A330 Drivers and 320 Simpilots Videos and the are far superior over the slightly confused OverKillSims one ๐
That makes the wait even harder... it's a totally instant buy of the package... even if I will barely fly the turbine one, I want to support BlackSquare because there only a few devs out there on this level of fidelity and we spent so much money on our hardware which is worth nothing without proper aircraft. -
Iโm of the same mind โฆ Iโm certainly intent upon buying the bundle of both Dukes even though I suspect Iโll spend at least 80% of my flight time with the reciprocating engine version, if for no other reason than to get to fuss with the more challenging startup process and the mixture (and to hear those sounds!). Waiting is just hard, especially in this case because I think the piston Duke is likely to replace the BS Bonanza as my most favored MSFS aircraft.
-
For me the sounds are a huge deal. It adds sooo much to immersion and from what I've heard on various streams - Boris has outdone himself this time. I was never that interested in failures before but then I got the FSR500 which has great depth so killing my starter suddenly made things interesting. Next I got the Lear which I love but got disappointed when there was no consequence to forgetting (checklists are for wimps:-) ) to turn on cabin air. That has now been resolved but I suddenly got why the fidelity and failures add so much. I have the 414 but I seem to be able to abuse that mightily with little consequence and I'm left wanting more.
This is going to be a hellishly expensive month - Dukes, MD11, BATC, CH47 and a rail sim. RIP bank account
