Is there a update or hotfix coming?

@derek Nobody bothered to pair up the software during beta testing with the most popular addons? I mean wouldn't it be reasonable at this point in time to be testing with PMDG 737, Fenix A320, GSX and stack it at a heavy 3rd party airport like KEWR, KLAS, KLAX etc. Then exactly what were they testing during beta? From what you're saying little to no testing was performed for compatibility.....with the most popular addons......
Addons for flight simulator simply can not exist in a world by themselves. I'm hearing what you're saying but at this point it starting to become insulting. For instance if you beta tested and realized your addon crashes if you are using the PMDG 737 - wouldn't you fix it before release to not have that issue? What about if everything is working fine - wouldn't you want some feedback from beta testers that heavily load the simulator with addons if for anything just to see what breaks? And then telling people to turn off or limit items because of draw calls is ridiculous, especially considering the amount of traffic I can inject with other software packages and it's just fine.
But here we are nobody that beta tested had the mix of a complex a/c, 3rd party airport, and GSX. I really don't think this is the case.....it's a complete mixed bag if it decided to generate traffic or not. I've seen it do this exact same thing with no addons added.
Whoever you had beta test this product apparently enjoyed the product early but there certainly wasn't complete testing done.
-
@qazme Your assesment is 1000% correct. I have been sitting here biting my tongue.
It's all our fault our systems that work perfectly fine without FS Traffic are the issue. Give me a break.
Point us to support. Go to support only to get a canned response "We are receiving an increased volume of support tickets. However we have your inquiry and will look into it and get back to you as soon as possible." Sitting here wondering just how soon is soon. Great customer support......
I asked for a refund. How hard is it to honor that request if the time was taken to read the support ticket?
-
JF wont be giving refunds, ive asked and the only thing I got today was a question asking if I use some sort of addon like GSX and if so to stop using it. Nothing else. if thats their solution you can stick up your backside because i actaully like using GSX (in a love hate sort of way too!) Its really simple for me, I will not buy anything from just flight again. There are plenty of other providers out there.
FS Traffic is a bust, dont know why i bought it, must have listended too much to the youtubers showing me with their free versions how it saved fps and i got sucked in. Ive gone back to FSLTL and realise actually how darn good that program is, turn it, injected traffic everywhere, samll hit to fps - what was I thinking. Still would love my money back. -
@seth2413 They've issued refunds to others, at least that's what has been stated here by at least one user. And since it was rather harshly told that the ones having this problem are only 5% of the user base, well - heh. There's also other ways to recover those funds if they won't work with you if you went through paypal or your credit card company if you purchased something and what was delivered and it was not as expected. I'm trying not to go that road - I want to like the product but the silence from devs etc etc make this hard not to feel really negative in this experience.
From the responses I've seen so far I'm not optomistic about this product and worse this company.
-
@Qazme I totally agree. I too would like this to work and not go down this road but I just dont see me using it because a) it wont work and there isnt a lot coming from the devs to fix it for me b) I dont want to have to study computer programming to get it to work - done enough of that with GSX pro and c) there is something that does actually work.
I'll just wait and see what happens and check my tickets.

It certainly was tested with addons - hence the tool included to reduce clutter at detailed airports when add-ons that increase clutter are used. We included an FAQ as well:
FS Traffic aircraft models may be invisible, and the simulator may hang on exit if the simulator’s maximum object count has been exceeded. This may occur if you are using highly detailed third-party airport sceneries or airport ground service add-ons (such as cones, people, stairs etc.) which add clutter to airports These products greatly increase the object count within the simulator and, in extreme circumstances, may exceed the MSFS maximum object count limit.
In an attempt to reduce object count within the simulator, we have included a tool in the Traffic Control Centre that allows you to customise which ground services interact with the FS Traffic aircraft models. In the Traffic Control Centre, go to Aircraft Manager > Ground Services and there you can toggle ON/OFF the various pieces of ground equipment. The more ground equipment enabled, the higher the object count. Three presets are also available on the left side of the page to allow you to quickly change these ground services.
This is also a problem for other traffic expansions:

There was a large team involved - not one person. I know it is a regular trope that beta testers only come for a free copy of the software, but that is not the case.
I am sorry if you feel so strongly that the product wasn't tested but, as I have outlined elsewhere, traffic programs, by their nature, are performing far more interactions with the host sim's environment than many other types of addon.
We have been looking at all the tickets raised so far and are working on updates to resolve issues that users are experiencing. Once again, we thank everyone for their patience.

From the responses I've seen so far I'm not optomistic about this product and worse this company. It is true that issues are confined to a small number of users, but I am not sure we have quoted percentages. Where did you see that?
As for silence, we have tried to reply to all the main threads. The product is complicated and interacts with many areas of the host sim. Other programs do that as well and some compromises have to be reached with traffic add-ons. We have been publishing the FS Traffic franchise for over 20 years and despite them consistently being our best sellers they require far more attention that aircraft or scenery expansions. We have collated all the feedback received so far and will have an update out soon that should resolve issues some users are having.
-
@derek This is your reply from another thread:
"But, the problem isn't present for the vast majority of users. There are a 'huge chunk' of copies out there and if this affects, say, 5% of them, that will be a lot (a ton) of people but a small percentage - hence why we would reiterate, please contact support and help us to get to the bottom of the issue."
So, if you tested with a large beta group 5% of that group should have also experienced problems. I think part of what you are failing to grasp is that many of the people that are being responded to here are very intelligent and have been involved in the flight sim community for a very, very long time. They know how to troubleshoot when there are issues, and they beta test software and hardware for other developers.
Many of the comments that have been made to people are down right insulting. I like @Qazme and too many others cannot get FS Traffic to work even when it is the only program in the community folder. What does that tell you?
The other thing that is not sitting well with me are the comments it "Clearly states that in the FAQ". Where in the hell on the product page does it state in BOLD letters to "READ THE FAQ BEFORE PURCHASING"
I spent over twelve hours of my free time (which is limited) this past weekend trying to get this program to do what it is supposed to do. Twelve hours of my life I will never get back. I am done wasting my precious time. I have seen zero solutions posted, only excuses. Just please give me the refund that I have requested.

Ah. I wrote "...if this affects, say..."
I fully understand your frustration and I can only apologise again, but we are confident that the program does work and we were happy to release it following a very long period of testing by a large group. If you look over the threads on this page you will see that experiences of those complaining vary enormously. Some have no traffic. Some have no traffic on departure or arrival or cruise. Some are affected by object limits and some have the program working as intended but are asking other questions.
There should be no need to read the FAQs before release - but, if you have a problem, that's where we have listed the most common issues that people experienced and how they can be resolved.
If you cannot get the program to work in any shape or form, as you have stated, and if you have contacted support and they can't help, then we will do our best to resolve things for you. That has always been our promise with everything we have ever released.
-
@derek First off I want you to understand I speak from frustration. Derek none of this is directed directly at you - I know you're on the front lines here and there's a lot of either don't know or can't share, whatever the situation. What I was talking about above was that with the amount of people I've seen comment here and in other forums and discords about the same issues I'm having it would have been caught. It seems the issue lays in the underpinnings where this software has to interact along with other software.
However with that being said - MSFS for the most part offers a "sandboxed" environment that tightly controlled (another reason lots of addons are currently having different types of issues) but that also means that these interactions are limited. And considering there's not a lot of popular addons for MSFS at this time surely most combinations of planes and ground handling would be tested - especially considering this type of addon would be used and expected to interact with them. That's all I meant from above.
Obviously during testing an issue was found and the work around is disabling ground services. And if that's got me working and traffic consistent I would partially just shake my head at Microsoft and accept that's just the cost of using this addon at this time. However I'm not having that experience.
I read the manual, watched the video, then downloaded and installed FS Traffic. I followed each step making sure it was correct best I could because I knew there would be some sort of issue - there always is....but I missed the "If you GSX disable ground traffic bit" because - frankly it was unexpected since all my other traffic addons I've used work fine without even thinking about it. (Also another frustation when I know that and keep seeing and getting quoted other forums - the basic equivalent of "look see" - just feels like an excuse and a little patronizing if I'm honest. But as I said I'm frustrated).
So everything is working great on first launch - I'm sitting at KATL, loaded up with my stylish PMDG boeing, FS2Crew, and GSX and we've completed the prep and checklist and I ask for push back. As soon as movement starts in reverse suddenly, like the 4 horsemen came down, every plane in the scene except mine disappears!
I reread through the manual - find the mistake, mark it as a "draw" problem, maybe so this is a new addon that promises really nice plane model with animations so....worth it. I correct my settings by turning EVERYTHING ground related off just to be sure. Reload the sim.....I have ZERO traffic loaded. WTF....ok maybe I got this really screwy. Restart my entire machine, reload the sim, I have traffic - tons of it. It looks amazing! I fly a route from KATL to KMSP roughly 1.5 hours - I see planes on the ground in route everything is as described - I fixed the problem this is amazing!!!!
I start leg #3 going to KBOI, no traffic when I got there.....realized I didn't put the ICAO information into the box. Thought shoot my fault. Saw now traffic along the route - ok the manual warns about this, dang it. Wondering if my next leg into KDEN is going to see a similar issue - I plug in the ICAO fly to Denver when I get there - planes on approach! Planes on the ground! This addon is amazing can't wait now that I know how to use it to check it out better!
This was all on release day. That was the last day and set of flights I've seen it remotely work. Yesterday I managed to get some planes on the ground leaving one airport - but not a single plane in the sky or at any other airport and I was in the sim for almost 12 hours total flight time.
Since release - I've spent more time tinkering and restarting my sim just begging for this addon to work that I care to think about. I'm tired, I'm aggrivated, quite frankly I'm mad. It's taking quite a bit of will not to blow a gasket about it knowing that in the many, many years I've been a customer of Just Flight I've never even had to worry about a product not working, being incomplete, being a pain in the ass. JF tends to just deliver. And in this instance I'm seeing a lot of things that just don't ring right with me.
So to echo whats been said - all I want to know from the developers, is a list of issues that have been identified, maybe address a list of things that are being further looked into, and some communication with a community that has trusted with our hearts and wallets to support. It's not much to ask - every other reputable company on earth communicates. If you all can't manage that just give me my money back and you'll never hear from me again.

@qazme
Hi qazme,
Sorry for the problems you've had over the last few days. We have an update coming out shortly that will hopefully go a long way to addressing what you have reported.@qazme said in Is there a update or hotfix coming?:

That's a fair point. This week has been incredibly busy whilst we've been working flat-out on getting the CTD issues sorted out, and I haven't had much time for anything else.
Once this update is out we'll have a chance to gather our thoughts and we'll do a better job of communicating what we're working on updating next. Thanks,
Rich -
I really hope, the CTD Issues are not the only thing which will be corrected with the update. Today another testflight:
EDDN to EDDFIn EDDN: Not all AC, according to FS-traffic Flight Plan Manager are there. No Taxi operations, even if the aircraft is there and the time of the departure is reached -> Immersion = 0
En Route = there were only 3 or 4 ! Planes En Route. And yes, i set the cycle to 2 minutes. Time in Simulator was about 14:40, so there should be a lot more aircraft En Route -> Immersion = 0
In EDDF: I put in EDDF in the InGame Panel, but here were no aircraft on arrival, no aircraft on taxiing and no aircraft at gates. It was totally empty -> Immersion = 0
SO in conclusion of this testflight, none of the advertised features worked! So i really wasted 30 bucks on a non functioning product (i already requested a refund, but i will wait for the next update, btw.: The statement from support were not helpful at all, and the information that normally justflight is doing no refunds is bogus, as i have the customer right to withdraw from a contract (which buying a product in fact is) if the product is not functioning or was advertised false. And false advertisedw ere a lo, just picking two item:
- No Information on Sim-Objects Limitations and Problems with GSX (information was first given after release)
- No Information, that AI-AC is not talking to ATC En Route (which is as well an immersion killer for me) - (Information was given after release in FAQ)
-
@five-birds Did you put in a support ticket and ask for a refund?
If you did just relax a bit a give support a little time to get back in touch with you. They will honor your request for a refund if that is your wish.
-
And who are you Bobo, who presumes to tell me that I should relax?
-
read my post again carefully, then you realize that I have already requested a Refund and in the exchange with the support.
-
by the way, this is the answer of the support regarding my refund request, which is completely moronic and not legally compliant:
With regards to refunds, we don't usually offer exchanges or refunds on downloads for unwanted products as there's nothing physical to return. -
and whether I get upset or not, you simply have no interest. I received a non-functioning, falsely advertised product and I just feel screwed!
-
-
@five-birds No need to be so confrontational. If you read up in the thread, you will see I was in the same boat as you.
I apologize if I offended you in any fashion. I was offered and did receive my refund today after waiting quite sometime for a second reply from support. If you have not figured it out, they are overwhelmed.

Just to clarify, under UK (and EU) consumer law there is no legal obligation to provide refunds on download software products once downloaded unless they are faulty. If the vendor can demonstrate that the product is working then it is difficult to prove the fault lies with the software. However, as per our Ts and Cs, if we can't get something to run for you we will make sure you are not left out of pocket.
