    A real gem just dropped on Youtube yesterday for everyone still waiting patiently for the 747 Classic, I haven't made my way through the whole thing yet as I'm busy with University work but I've been enjoying every minute!

    Geo-Sky is the only airline currently Permitted to Operate the 747 Classic in Europe, and one of the last commercial operators of the type overall.

    The aircraft in this has a storied history as well, and a testament to the 747's durability and the British Airways Engineering department! 4L-GEN was initially delivered to BA as G-BDXN in 1987 before being withdrawn in 2001, it was converted to a freighter and spent a number of years with Air Atlanta Icelandic and Malaysian Airlines before spending 7 years in the Mojave. Geo-Sky now have the aircraft after having it put through a D-Check and a few months ago it got a beautiful new livery. (P.s. Note to JF/ repainters: I would love to see this livery for the 747 Classic at some point!)

      A real gem indeed, Martin, thanks! And it was me wot flew XN to Mojave, via Phoenix (for Customs clearance) from Cardiff on 5th Feb 2002. It then had a total of 54314 hours on the airframe.

      We took a few over there for indefinite storage, although some came back fairly smartly with the formation of the short-lived European Airways - I was well retired by then.

      It was always amusing disembarking at Mojave, they didn't have steps high enough to reach the main doors of the 747, so we got taken off via a cherry picker! Probably the dodgiest part of the whole operation...

      I don't recognise the device in the No 3 INS position - some kind of satellite communication unit? Must have been a later addition.
