Altitude Programmer: Baro setting issue and a question

When I have "Control ALT SEL with Hardware Events" true, I cannot manually change the programmer baro setting. I have not established bindings for this but would prefer to just use the mouse for that portion. (the "B" key works, but I don't like using it since I often am referencing a provided altimeter setting, not necessarily local sim pressure)
I have been keeping that setting False and just using mouse for it all so far because of this.
Question: Is there a prescribed workflow in the manual for changing the Programmers baro setting? It seems I need to disconnect ALT hold or else I get wild changes in trim as, for instance, I change from 30.0 to 29.9. Pulling the ALT SEL breaker doesn't prevent this (I thought it might be a handy workaround).

@djd565 So, you're looking for a separate Control BARO SET with Hardware Events toggles? Do I understand correctly? Yes, that's also what I do. For any significant baro change, I press the altitude hold button, and then reengage after inputting the new baro setting.

My preference would be to use the mouse for the programmer’s Baro while keeping the hardware events for its Altitude and Vertical Speed.If that’s not possible then I’ll have to set up hardware to control the Baro on there.
Thanks for the feedback on the procedure, that will be my plan then— it’s just a quirky bit of hardware.

@Black-Square I know I already mentioned this in another post. but on the topic of the alt selector (and only in case you missed it), If it's not too much trouble to reverse the mouse scroll direction on the dials so it scrolls in the same direction as the mouse wheel I would really appreciate it...

@SadBucket I knew this would come up, so I tried it both ways myself, switching back and forth probably four or five times over months. I feel that there was a reason I settled on this direction after that many tries. If you would like, you can edit the file locally, so you can have exactly what you're looking for. If you search in
Commander114_INT.XMLforALTITUDE_SELECTOR, just swap the code in theCLOCKWISE_CODEandANTICLOCKWISE_CODEtags for each of the thumbwheels. Let me know if you need any help.
