BS Starship GPS WAAS and ADS-B capability
-
Three things...
First, Nick you earned my $55, every penny! i'm never gonna get a chance to fly a real Starship but this is close enough!
Second, does the BS Starship have a WAAS capable GPS/GNSS so I can fly RNAV with LPV minimums?
Third, is the Starship equipped with a Mode S transponder? Does it have ADS-B capability since the FAA now requires it?
-
For point 2, it has a GNS 430 in the center console that can drive the AP and do your RNAV approaches.
@jmarkows Yes but RNAV you can do either LNAV, LNAV/VNAV, or the most accurate (lowest minimums), LPV. Can it do LPV?
The reason I ask is because on the FMS it says GNSS/WAAS so I assume it has WAAS?
-
Correct. Starship's FMS alone would be just LNAV (no /VNAV or +V), which is why I have included the GNS for those LPV minimums days.
All of the Starships have ADS-B running off their LRN GPS, as far as I am aware.

@Black-Square Ok so I can use the FMS for departure and enroute and use the GNS430 for LPV approaches? all I have to do is load in the approach in the GNS430 and switch the AP source from FMS to GNS430?

@Captain-Bakon But in general, yes, this is exactly the scenario I envisioned when I included it.
