Pilot of nearly 30 years here IRL. I've just purchased the Baron Pro and have to say is wow! Such a great job reproducing a twin engine piston. I feel like I'm back flying in the early years of my career flying Navajo's and Cheyenne's single pilot.
I noticed that the 58P placards on the left sidewall have speeds for the normally aspirated Baron. I was using the orange livery of it helps.
It's been almost 15 years since I've used the AP that's modelled IRL but the Altitude Selector doesn't capture the altitude with the AP engaged unless you select VS. It'll annunciate CAPT but not engage ALT hold with ALT ARM. VS mode in a climb is usually a no-no. I'm going from memory here, so correct me of I'm wrong.
Also, animations don't seem to work with control binds.
Small things, but otherwise amazing!

Glad you're enjoying the Barons! It's always a pleasure to hear from fellow pilots.
I've already got the placards fixed for you on the next update.
The autopilot not capturing is likely a MSFS limitation, as the native autopilot actually has no sense of arming. I've had to apply layers of my own fixes to get as much of the arming behavior as we see now. Just to clarify, though, what mode is the autopilot in when it's not capturing? It should capture from pitch hold mode too. Although I obviously know why you have an aversion to VS for long climbs, since the KFC 150 has no airspeed hold mode, I don't think we can fully call it a "no-no".
That's your YouTube channel? Great VR setup! I hope my aircraft can bring you the joy of flying while you're reassigned to desk duty for the time being

@Black-Square From what I remember, with Bendix/King AP engaging a lateral mode puts it in pitch hold? I don't think I have the manuals anymore, or they are in storage.
From the video I have ALT armed and either HDG/NAV engaged. VS is not armed. CAPT annunciates but it blows through the altitude.
Also, I the rocker switch if, I remember, controls pitch? I think you have it change the altitude selector. It's also labeled backwards but I see it's fixed for the next version.
VS in a climb is typically "not recommended" only time I'd use it is to slow down my climb rate to avoid TCAS advisories. So a hard "no-no" it's not.

Anyway, I never trusted these AP's IRL. They didn't always work well IRL on these hard working airplanes in the Canadian bush.

It's always funny to me when fellow pilots show up here who have actually experienced flying with 40 year equipment, haha. I've flown airplanes where the autopilot was so messed up that you would be in better shape letting your dog take the controls for a while, haha.
Yes, the label is already fixed. You're correct about entering pitch hold as the default. The rocker should also adjust the pitch when in pitch or VS mode, and I recall testing it recently. I can't claim to know exactly what mode it's in for you, but I think the behavior you're seeing would happen if it wasn't in either pitch or VS, which can happen sometimes with the native autopilot. I can try to reproduce this soon.
To add to all of this, I had reports of strange altitude capture behavior in SU4, which was released just last week. Those users seemed to retract that statement, or say that it was fixed by a reinstall (should never really be the case, but I tend to not ask questions if everything is working correctly), so there might be a recently introduced simulator-level issue at play here too.

@Black-Square Awesome! Single Pilot piston twins are some of the hardest flying I had to do, and typically it's done when you're the least experienced. Bringing back good memories and lessons learned. Thanks again.
I'm proud of myself for remembering to stage cool the engines after almost 15 years being away from turbocharged pistons. VR and a Buttkicker make it feel real apart from being able to physical reach switches.
You also modelled the annoyance of hot/cold starting fuel injected engines. Well done!

@Black-Square I discovered its the TOGA mode. If I sync the FD command bars to my current pitch attitude it captures. The question is whether TOGA is a valid pitch mode for altitude capture. From memory I remember it being so. I'll see if I can find the manual online.
