I had been flying all the Pro variants of the Bonanza and Baron in FS2024 SU3 and really enjoyed them. Then I upgraded to SU4 1.6.19.0 all the way to 1.6.23.0 and have the same problem with each level of SU4.

If I start a Free Flight from a departure runway - the Pro Bonanza and Baron work perfectly in SU 4 Betas. But if I start cold and dark on the ramp the engine(s) will not start. I have been flying the Black Square Bonanza and Baron in FS2020 for years and do understand the engines.

    In SU 4 beta:
The engine(s)crank and the engine and electrical analyzer show everything is perfect:
-battery V is good (external power)

    • tanks at 1/2 as shown in Payload
    • spark, fuel flow to cylinders, piston movement in Engine analyzer
    • magnetos flash in correct order
I clean plugs, clear cylinders, rebuild engines and nothing lets them start from a cold and dark ramp.

Not a cough - using either the start switch or CTRL-E - the engine(s) just crank and crank but never fire despite the spark plugs firing in the analyzer. I do a walkaround (CTRL+C) to verify nothing is blocking the air intakes, chocks, or pitot tube.

Do parts of the Pro variants not work in the SU4 Betas?

The Pro Turbine Bonanza works great in all SU4 Beta versions.

Sorry you're having issues. I hope you're enjoying the upgrade from the 2020 Analog Series, though!

Everything has been working well on SU4 Beta for me (well, apart from all the beta bugs). I assume you checked the engine condition in the tablet visualizer, and they are not at 0%? If they're good to go, a video would be very helpful for me to diagnose.

I have seen many instances of people struggling with starting aircraft engines in real life and in the msfs community discord... I always get them to use Engine Start (Hot) checklist in the sim and it always fire's right up for some reason...

Just like Real Life - get the mechanic to look at the vehicle/plane and it works perfectly!

Started the 1.6.23.0 sim with empty community except for Bonanza Pro. Verified it would not start using magneto switch or CTRL+E. Nothing - not a snort or pop. Followed the checklist provided in the manual - both Hot and Cold.

Setup a Snip/Video recording to demonstrate the entire non-start sequence. She started the 2nd time I turned the switch to start. Again, I was following the Cold start checklist. I had to advance the throttle to over 50% to start but it was quick to go when I pushed the throttle forward from 1/2 inch to half-throttle.

What a great plane - love the work you've done.

@OldTiredSailor said in Pro Bonanza and Baron - worked great in SU3 now neither will start in SU4 Beta:

I had to advance the throttle to over 50% to start

Without seeing exactly what you were doing, this is indicative of too much fuel in the cylinders, so try running the fuel pumps for much less before cranking.

On SU4 Beta here, no issues with Bonanza or Baron.

I can confirm that I'm on SU4 Beta and no problems so far as well.
