As some of you may already know the Vne in the Duke Turbine is 198kt where as the Piston is 233kt.
This is done due to certification requirements for turbine conversions where you no longer have the smooth air penitration band (the yellow part of the speed dial). The specifics of the reasoning are sound and I wont get into all of that but I was curious if in the Turbine Duke if there is a set speed that we see structural failure?
As the aircraft is the same (with different engines) would that mean that the structurl failure point for both the Turbine and Piston version would be above 233kt indicated airspeed or has it been lowered for the Turbine?

In addition to that, is there a way to silence the overspeed warning horn on the Turbine model?

Well I think I answered my own questions here.

Seems the Duke will go up to just under 250kt IAS without any airframe vibration.

It will comfortably cruise above the indicate Vne but you get that nasty overspeed warning. If you want to silence that you can pull the “stall horn” 5a breaker on the right hand vertical breaker panel.

Now this is not how the plane was designed to operate so it could cause issues that I am not aware of yet as I just did a 5min test with it but I’m going to attempt a longer flight and see how it does.
